My New Favorite Dawg

“Coming off the year we just had, with a bunch of brothers who are like, ‘Yo, this is what we want to do,’ it’s like God just placed all these people in my life for a reason,” said Jenkins, a rising senior nose guard. “For us to be together like we were just a moment ago, we pretty much put our future in each other’s hands. Cornelius could have left. B. Smith. Rambo. J.J. [rising junior linebacker Jarvis Jones]. Today goes to show what type of program Georgia has and the effect that Georgia has on young individuals like ourselves.”

quote by Mr. Motel 6 Big John Jenkins

i think he is my new favorite Dawg. man this quote just hit me hard for real, these are the kids that make CFB so enjoyable and me proud to be a UGA fan. Hats off to this group of kids. Heck of a bunch of guys if you ask me.

These coaches and kids can put this program where it hasn't been since HW if they keep this mentality. Now, lets really do what it takes to be Champs in 2012. #FinishWhatYouStarted #RingTeam

We should all be encouraged as fans to see all these guys coming back... they want to put Georgia back on the map. Hopefully they all realize how special the season can be if they put in 100% to get better across the board. The camaraderie and accountability we see with this team now is awesome.

Our defense will be tough... big question mark will be the o-line. I think they will be a much improved unit though.

I agree that the OL will be the main question mark and I'm hoping that they take it personally and step up in a big way. I like Coach Friend and think he's got the right disposition and pedigree to get our line where we want it to be.

Agreed, I think it'll be addition by subtraction because we had two guards playing tackle last yr IMO. Also, with the cross training at various OL positions by CWF will help out for the future.

I agree. If we can run the ball like UGA is known for... Look OUT!

Big John may be the man who gets the ink on this, but he speaks for the entire defense-- they passed on the league too, you know. We're all in this together. One team. One heartbeat. One champion.

Not sure if you had the chance to read the transcript but, several of the players spoke and were quoted as to speaking with the sentiment, but to me Big John just captured it pretty well. Kind of an eloquent guy to be nicknamed Motel 6. lol.

To me he just summed it up really well. And the feelings that God had something special for this particular group of men to accomplish at this place and time in life gives an even greater appreciation to myself. That is the greatest sense of purpose known to a man. For them to place their faith in one another, the coaches and God, if that just wasn't talk but real belief, that creates a sense of unity that can't be stopped.

There is a synergy that surrounds the 2012 team that has great potential to be the best, maybe ever at UGA. We had the talent in '08, but we lacked in many of the intangibles. This team's ceiling is higher imo than that one was not to mention the schedule is more favorable.

By all indications from his quote and what we have heard about him, Im hoping that Big John is more comfortable in his skin as a Dawg this year and takes on a major role of leadership and sets the standard of work ethic, attitude and maturity it will take to capitalize on the opportunity at hand.
