Daddy's Home
I am not the only one that told you guys the chickens would come home to roost from the TG contract. The falcons give an over the hill, on the decline TIGHT END a one year deal for 7.5 mil and a week later are conceding the loss of their best defensive player who is a YOUNG up and coming player.Who in the world is in charge here? You are gonna grossly over pay TG and then float the idea of letting Grimes go?Can you think of a more clear example of what is going on here folks?I told ya...Marketing!If you wanna get paid by the falcons, you have to be a guy that:1) Gets photographs2) Gets photographed with the ball in his hands. This organization is as morally shallow as a thimble. And as intellectually paper thin as tissue paper.The...Roof...is...On...FIRE! 1989Fan
Gonzalez's cap hit is less next season than it was this season. So I guess I fail to agree with you completely.

So I guess I fail to agree with you completely.Exactly, also TG produced for us this season and was one of the best TE this year.I see some of your posts and they are negative almost every time. atljbo
Gonzalez's cap hit is less next season than it was this season. So I guess I fail to agree with you completely.I was about to say that... We are actually saving a little cap.It has to do with if TD and the team wants to use that money towards another position or if something happen between Grimes and his ppl and the organization (if grimes walk)
Tampa Bay Falcon
I do not agree with this post, I thought TG made some plays a, 20 year old tightend could not have made this year. Unless you find a 6'6 tightend out there like Jimmy Graham, who can catch, i say keep TG.
Trouble
Tony G had 1 of the best years of all our players and honesty made the probowl and it was well deserved.A hall of famer and still can go and is likely to easly catch on to what any new OC wants him to do. We had no replacement.Grimes while id love to keep him. He isnt gonna sign for a 7 mill deal. He is gonna get payed big and its not a matter of letting him walk. He may be a player we cant afford to keep because he cripples the SC for years to come.TG and Ryan work great together. We needed him resigned as much as we need Grimes. But we may not be able to pull off 1 of our best players. Its the nature of FA.
slamee101
Tony's deal isn't the problem. It's Dunta's. You put way too much into a guy that's been only average half the time and subpar the other half. Since you put that $ into one corner you're pretty much forced to keep...you have to let the other (better) CB walk and hope the younger guys can step up. GAgamers
TG is a future hall of famer who is still producing like he does not know he is. The guy is a good signing for Atlanta....

King Syrup Golden 32 Oz
I think the o.p. Has a point. I realize the structure of TG's deal saved us some cap room, I'm not sure if the o.p. knew that or not... However I agree with questioning the line of thinking here...Grimes is EASILY a premier CB, anyone who says differently isn't being intellectually honest. Is TG a good locker room Guy? Yes...is he an incredible talent? Yes... Is he going to play after next year, probably not!

Steel City Falcon
Yeah this is an over reaction. Tony G isn't hurting the cap and it's not the reason Grimes may or may not be resigned.
{Mojo-Risin}
With the way the NFL is changing the rules for offenses, it's not going to matter who you put on defense. They aren't allowed to tackle anymore or defense passes.

So I guess I fail to agree with you completely.D.E.L.U.S.I.O.N.A.L.Why would Grimes care what TG's cap hit is?Like I said before. U pay TG 7.5 mil, there is No way Grimes takes less than prime dollar from Falcons. Irrespective of any concern for cap hits. The Falcons are preparing the fan base for he inevitable...Another blunder.

Yeah, you stupid.

Aftermath
We could refuse to sing all of our FAs and Grimes and that loud mouth wife of his is still going to be looking for that big pay day.
Wokezone
Grimes age, and injury, and wanting to be overpaid, you dont pay 7+ mil longterm for a guy who is1. probably going to a Press man system2. 28 year zone corner3. Off the field antics not brent specifically.
