vdove0926
Who is the best safety in the draft? Edited January 12, 2012 by angdove26
Rai
You'll get the majority saying either Markelle Martin or Mark Barron.
maynarioj
Gotta agree with Rai, it's a toss up between Martin and Barron
Smiler11
I think in the modern Nfl, Markelle Martin is the top safety, but it's a terrible safety class with Rambo, McDonald and Lester all returning. The 2013 draft will be very good though.
A-TowN.-
I don't think we should spend a high draft pick this draft on a Safety. This is an awful draft for it outside of 3 or so guys.

A-TowN.-
then I guess we should spend our 2nd on a safety? No, I just think we have bigger needs, a better front four and defensive scheme can make DeCoud safe for one more year IMO
Kennesaw77
No, I just think we have bigger needs, a better front four and defensive scheme can make DeCoud safe for one more year IMOyeah I won't disagree with that. Imho though we should maybe bring in a vet to at least compete with Decoud for cheap.

Will come cheap and is supposed to be a great veteran leader which is something we need.

chris30277
Michael Griffin in FA
KRUNKuno
I like Antonio Allen a lot. I believe he has the range to play FS although he's more of a strong safety. We could get him in the 3rd if we really find it necessary. But it would probably be wise to just re-sign James Sanders and let DeCoud get to steppin! BigBird35
Nolan's secondary's are intense and fearless I see us signing Michael Griffin or Laron Landry at FS and also a free agent at corner.
direwolf
Dashon Goldson (sp?), FS for the Niners, is a free agent. Did Nolan bring him in? He's a player (picked Brees in the playoff game) and if there's a history with Nolan might be interesting in rejoining him.Just a thought... He was. he was signed in the last year in which Nolan was both HD and the GM. I don't think I would mind if this happened.

Mike Griffin, Reggie Nelson, and Laron Landry are all guys we should look at IMO. I think it's a good year to sign a FS in FA and not have to worry about drafting one... hjerry
I've really started to fall in love with Harrison Smith. Smart, High character, Captain, If we could get him late, he could turn into the biggest steal in this year's class.

A little inconsistent but he is one of the best if not the best FS in this draft when he is on his game. Seems like a TD pick too

We could go in two years from one the worst safety cores in the league to one the best. Edited February 2, 2012 by hjerry

Kennesaw77
Thorpe is awful. Rambo is overrated but is at least decent.
hjerry
Thorpe is awful. Rambo is overrated but is at least decent.I disagree. This was Thorpe's first year at safety. He has all the physical tools to succeed and is a smart player. He would need to be coached up, kinda like a safety version of Darren Walls.
