falcon_ace
We will reach playoffs again & will go 0-4 if we dont 1) Upgrade our abysmal O-line. ( I have been saying this from yrs & falcons did nothing )Nick Hardwick (SD) - OC - Hardwick isn't nearly at his Pro Bowl level from several years back, but he's a solid center with good size, strength, and football IQ. The Chargers have some other contracts to address before they get to Hardwick, which would allow a team desperate in the middle to steal him from San Diego while searching for his Pro Bowl years yet again. Carl Nicks (NO) - OG - Nicks is one of the premier guards in the league and after watching Jahri Evans strike a rich deal not too long ago, the Saints may be hard pressed to offer a second guard that type of money, though Nicks arguably had a better season a year ago. If Nicks doesn't put a hometown discount on the table, there's a good chance the market shows him more love than the Saints can afford to show him. In playoffs you get awesome d-lines & if you dont have SHUT-DOWN left tackle & awesome guards will result in 0% chance in passing game.2) Falcons back-end is good with Dunta, Grimes & Moore but without pass-rush they wont be able to cover for long.3) Get a 12-13 sack pass rusher. ( Mario ) There is no substitute to pass rush. look at NY D-line.I promise that we can win NFC with these 2 moves.I will bet 10K on Falcons to win 1st playoff game in 7 yrs if we make these 2 moves. KGrillz
I agree. We need to upgrade the OL and DL. What makes Brady, Rodgers, and Brees good is there OL.

We tend to win our home games and beat the bad teams on the road.....but let's hope we fix this offensive line and remove that playoff monkey from Smith and Dimitroff's back. hardenmj
We have tough decision to make on our own free agents...If we want to make a big splash in free agency by bringing in a bunch of proven players on both O-line and D-line we may have to let a good player like Grimes walk, which would suck, but I think we would be a better team for it
falcon22
I rather more money is invested to strengthen the OL than DL, not to say that we need to neglect the DL, but I would prioritize with OL first and develope our current players in the DL. Our defense is not far off and if the offense improves, then it will help them.

Hopefully a healthy Babs, Abe (granted he signs), and Edwards can have a better year and maybe a better scheme to help get pressure on oppossing Qbs. Our run defense is fine in my opinion. Our O-line just lacks talent in the run and pass.

SBorBust
I just don't like the premise that nothing was done to address...Hawley was brought in to take over for McClure....same with Johnson for Dahl...and Baker's mediocre performance was blamed on his back.Did things work out? No, Hawley is a ******, Johnson got hurt and Baker's back has caused him to bust. But stop saying nothing was done, the things that were done just didn't pan out.If TD ran out and brought in high priced o-line help and we still had the season we had...everyone would say "he should have drafted and groomed o-linemen"

Dominique is Manufique
upgrades need to be from bonified fa's not through the draft. the guys in the trenches to get this line in order need to come from proven nfl players. TD already drafted baker, hawley, mike johnson and none of them have been worth a sh!t.

Since then what has Thomas done to address the Oline? What? reaching with 3/4 round picks, please! Bettcha Art got his attention in the presser, and maybe during the draft but, most likely via FAgency, I bet some significant attention will be paid to this woefully inadequally portion of this team. Dominique is Manufique
what i don't understand with the national media and all the fans is that quarterback rating is more of a statistic that reflects the team than it does the individual quarterback. wr's must catch catchable balls, o-lineman must beat the man in front of them and quarterbacks must make the correct read and throw the ball on time and to an open spot on the field.matt ryan is good enough to win a super bowl. this offensive line is not. everyone saw it from the beginning of the season. atlanta has a lot of tools in the box for a real threatening team, but there missing five guys up front to put them over the top. it's no coincidence that the saints have 3 all-pro guards and tackles.god i hope someone knocks of the saints in the post season. if they get two lombardi trophies i may have to cut my throat. Carl927
Matt suffers from Mularkey syndrome. Make a quick pre-snap read, watch for two seconds until both passing options evaporate, roll out and get rid of the ball before you suffer an injury. Take another snap and hand the ball to Turner, hoping this is the one carry out of fifteen where he breaks one.I'm willing to give Ryan a chance to develop further under a better scheme. It's too easy to shut our old predictable offense down. Edited January 12, 2012 by Carl927
