xxstealth
But Tice, who plans to assume play-calling during games, is pushing for the Bears to bring in Dirk Koetter, with whom he worked in Jacksonville. Koetter was the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach with the Jaguars. With no head coach in Jacksonville and new ownership, Koetter's status there is unresolved. It's believed Koetter -- whose contract expires in February -- could become a hot commodity around the league in the coming days. According to a source, if Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey lands the head-coaching job in Jacksonville, the Falcons will go after Koetter to direct that offense.http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/7447841/tennessee-titans-coach-dowell-loggains-not-candidate-chicago-bears-job

fansince78
Mularkey for Koetter? Is that what we would call a good swap? We'd have to see him work with our offense to know. He didn't exactly have the greatest show on turf down there. I wonder who "a source" is?

JBeattz
Jags didn't have much to work with on offense. There's still people out there I would be more interested in than this guy though.

JBeattz
Hey, this is what the "fans" wanted....We wanted the coordinators gone so we could get new more exciting coordinators. We didn't want them gone so we could get just any new coordinator. For example. Martz had chi offense doing pretty well despite the lack of WR talent and other holes. He's proved he is a winner in the past. Lose mm and give Martz a shot with our weapons. I bet we'd look much better. McDaniels would have been a similar example.

fansince78
I will give whoever they name OC a shot before I hit the panic button, same for DC. I can not say someone is a failure until they have failed. I accept that their choices may not be who I'd like and probably won't be popular, but I have to trust that they know what they are doing. They better make the right choice for OC because they are going to need to score some points to make up for some of the defensive holes that will be there. I think OL will be what they work on the hardest during the offseason and we are going to lose some good FAs. Surely, they will consider carefully who they bring in. vel
The reason I will reserve judgement on Koetter is because we wanted MM gone badly and he was "successful" under the same standards we are judging Koetter for sucking. That's all I'll say about that
