FlyHighFalcons
Not sure why so many posters seem to think he's not a good option at DC. He would be a good addition. He only has a little experience as a coordinator, but it worked. We need somebody aggressive. If we don't get Spags, he'd be a good option. Xx FaLcOhoLiC Xx
Del Rio seems to be the big rumored candidate for DC all over the Internet. He may be our guy after all

Mike Smith was running defense in Jax the way Del Rio wanted it done.BVG was running defense in ATL the way Mike Smith wanted it done. I can tell you that BVG did not run his defense at UGA the way he did as Falcons DC. Granted its two different levels of football but BVG was aggressive at UGA and he will be aggressive at Auburn. I think he ran the defense the way Mike Smith wanted. If you want change in the defense - then Del Rio is not the best option - I want change. Peyton
I think he would be a good DC, but I also think it's hard to report to someone who used to be your subordinate. So I can't see it for that reason.

I Even Bleed Red
I don't know if I want him as a DC. I want someone with fresh, new insights that will challegne Smitty. Not another Yesman, then we don't have a huge improvement afterall.

Jags offensive gameplan is worse than ours. Gabbert barely throws any passes over 20 yards! Wtf are we gonna do? Hire all the great minds from Jacksonville as our coaching staff? JDR and Dirk Koetter --- so they can replicate the tremendous success they had in Jacksonville? Get the f$%k outta here!If Smitty does this b.s., he's dead to me. Too much bad blood there. The problem is you know our young LBers all listen to Mike Pete. If he's bad mouthing JDR to them things could get ugly. niels petersen
I think it is too soon to be talking about favorites at DC..As Smith has stated, they are going to do a thorough evaluation of whats good and whats bad - that takes some time. Only by evaluating alongside of TD for some time, will Smith come to any conclusions about what we need at the coordinator positions.. But if he has learned anything, it should be that this team is in need of something different from what we had. As for OC, I think that with his latest drafts, TD has been building the offense towards a different type of offense that we had with MM, so I'm hopeful that we will go in another, and more aggressive direction at OC this time. And keep in mind there are still some viable options who we can't yet interview because they are on playoff teams. Hustle Up
The problem is you know our young LBers all listen to Mike Pete. If he's bad mouthing JDR to them things could get ugly. This is the main reason it would be a terrible idea I can ensure you Peterson will probably sew seeds of discord if Del Rio is hired. The players respect Mike Peterson, they don't know Del Rio. Before he even gets a chance to do anything he's behind te 8-ball. Bad, Bad, Bad.......Smith can't afford that now he doesn't have much rope.
