Dharma Initiative
I have a feeling the Mike Smith told him "Line something up and make it look like you're leaving on your own".Auburn isn't a step up, and BVG is known for running from a job when the going gets tough and pressure amounts. Dominique is Manufique
no doubt he left out of necessity. whether he read writing on the wall or was flat out told to leave, that is no doubt what happened.who thinks ted roof left auburn to go to central florida by choice? Herr Doktor
Either that, or he is being a realist. If you look at the Auburn boards, they were talking about this three weeks ago. I would say BVG saw the writing, maybe felt he didn't have the tools to take us higher and decided maybe he is really a college coach. vel
I think TD gave him a few nudges. Best for both parties. I actually like BVG and have no hard feelings. Wish I could say the same for that dunce MM

falcons4life
This had to be in the works for a while. The Auburn coach said that BVG was at the top of his list but a deal like this rarely gets done in 12 hours.I think BVG had the offer and after yesterday took it in a heartbeat before he got canned. pr0d1gy
Seriously? Our DC left here to go to Auburn? Great job front office, our defense has done nothing but get better each year and still this guy gets run out of town? Really? How did we not fight to keep this guy and WHY THE **** IS MULARKY STILL HERE?
GEORGIAfan
if they asked him to leave, and it was not preplanned, then he would not have left the next day. He wanted to leave. Anyways the defense played well enough. Fans were not happy, but the unhappiness was geared towards the offense.
fansince78
This was just a classy way to handle the situation. I look for the same explanation from the Falcons about MM. AB wanted to let them leave with dignity.
phattywankenobi
The only person to get a new coaching gig in less than 24hrs faster was Pigtrino. Millions of dollars don't usually happen over a quick phone call.
joe_fishback
the best defensive job he's done all season he manged to sack the afmb, they popped champagne bottles right after he walked out the room after telling the team the news
Steel City Falcon
Yea. I think he new he was leaving a while ago. 4 years and the defense really hasn't improved. Plus he has a better chance at becoming a HC again in college if he does well with the defense there.

Carl927
The only way he was asked to look for another job prior to the start of the playoffs: If Smith has been doing the majority of the DC's job for awhile. Otherwise this all on BVG and where he feels happiest.
OilFuturesTrader19
He left by choice. There are problems in the organization, as what was witnessed yesterday.
Trouble
He didnt get fired today and land a new job today. I doubt he was forced to leave like this. Him and his family probably made the choice.

Carl927
Why on Earth would you tell your DC that he was getting fired after the season, and then tell him to gameplan for the playoffs?Sorry, guys... The BS detector is clanging loudly.

Problem is its the players fault the Foulcons lost not the coaches. Losing key games is a Foulcon tradition going back to 1980 Foulcons vs. Dallas up 14 points going into 4th Qtr. They are cursed and/or snakebit
rogueleadersf
Have to say, just found this out, been at work all day....if he already has a job, this was by choice....I have a terrible gut feeling,we should have KEPT him and fired MM immediately...seems to me that the D was the ONLY PART OF THE TEAM THAT SHOWED UP YESTERDAY...HOLDING A PLAYOFF TEAM TO 7 POINTS IN FIRST HALF ON THE ROAD,,,kept the team in the game,,,,can't help that the offense forgot there was a game yesterday, after being on the field for so long, the D eventually got burnt out...Seems to me that he might have been sick of the situation and tired of Smith's defensive philosophy...if this IS THE CASE....WE ARE IN FOR SOME TROUBLING TIMES ON DEFENSE FOLKS...I HAD ACTUALLY BEGAN TO FIND A NEW LIKING TO BVG towards the second half of the season..,.with the exception of never seeming able to get off the field on 3rds downs that it,but there again,if this is Smiths doing,....we are in for a bumpy ride

I would say BVG saw the writing, maybe felt he didn't have the tools to take us higher and decided maybe he is really a college coach.I was under the impression he was NEVER going to get another college job after what he did in Statesboro. Let me tell ya, the people down there can not stand the guy. He came in and tore up a 30 year tradition in one year and left when the going got rough. It seems like at best a sideways move to me. DC to DC, Pro to College? Doesn't make sense to be a decision by choice.
I give lengthy responses
I wish it was MM. Didn't really hate BVG.
