PeytonMannings Forehead
Never thought he was the core problem, and after the way the defense came out and got after the Giants offense, I stick by that. But since he's gone, might as well send a few more assistants out with him: Reynolds, Hamilton, Boudreau.
CrimsonFalcon
"Who replaces him" is the million dollar question though. Not to mention, how many player who are eligible for free agency will walk now that he's gone? Will Abe hang around or will he hang em up?Questions questions questions. Guest Negatorris
I heard the soft zone crap was Smittys scheme. If that's true ill kill that *******.
fansince78
I wish him the best except for a couple of games a year. I can't say that I will miss him, but good luck to him.
Snafu
BVG essentially quit, he wasn't fired. This adds merit to the beliefs he was being handcuffed by Smitty. Maybe Smith was forcing him to run this busted scheme and not allowing him to run the Defense in the way he saw fit. If that's the case no DC we could bring in will make a difference unless Smitty gives full reigns. I really don't know what to make of this. This was the Falcons way of letting him go without having to fire him. Mike Smith probably told him after the N.O. game that he needed to find something else. Mularkey will be next and his departure will be along the same lines. Of course, after the performance yesterday, Smitty may be telling us that Mularkey has decided to leave in order to take the position of equipment manager at Podunk University. Carl927
They should move Mularkey to Defensive Coordinator. He knows how to keep an offense from scoring.

PeytonMannings Forehead
From Twitter. New DC, any guesses?Personally, I'd like to see Smith take the reigns. He's a defensive guy. He got the job because of his prowess. He's not going to want to hire and outsider and give him total autonomy on that side of the ball, so I say he take over the defense and get it fixed himself. Grab Tim Lewis who has coordinator experience, and put him in charge of the legwork that takes place during the week -- similar to how Mike Pettine assists Rex Ryan in New York -- and let Smith take the call sheet on Sundays.
