SoLuvinMyFalcons
Mike Smith will not be firedThomas Dimitroff will not be firedMatt Ryan will not be tradedDuntae Robinson will not be traded or cutRay Edwards will not be traded or cutOk... Now we can talk realistically about the Falcons. The million dollars questions is this. Outside of the things I have already mention, how do you improve this team. Right now your are TD, what do you do?It's difficut without having a 1st and 4th rounder and the most glaring needs is on the offensive line. What do you do?Starting with the firing of Mike Murlarky....
fansince78
Unfortunately, I believe that you can add that Abe will not be a Falcon next season to that list. The team can't pony up the money to sign him and do what they need to do in other areas.
lee sunset
While I would like to see Mike Smith go I have to agree with you on most points. However... is it too much of a salary cap hit to dump Dunta? He is just a waste of a roster spot. And no more talk of moving him to safety.Besides MM I think we need a new DC as well - the reason I did not renew my season tix this season (plus the lock-out) was the Falcons did not fire BVG the day after the Debacle in the Dome... You can't take that kind of a loss.

falcons4life
After a loss like this I am ready to go for a fire sale of the whole darn team.To soon to see clearly and realistically with the exception of Mularkey. He should have been gone in August.
RDCLARKIII
The first thing HAS GOT TO BE MULARKEY. All the talent on this team a Pro Bowl RB, a Pro Bowl WR, Hall of Fame TE, and a rising star on this offense. That's not including guys that were severely underutilized in Snelling, Rodgers and Douglas. And you put up 0 points in ANY GAME. That's ridiculous.....As far as players goes, until you spend money to fix the o-line and d-line, everything will be status quo....

Flyin' In DC
I think VanGorder is safe. To me the defense started to play much better later in the year.We need the following: LT and RGDE. Give Sidbury chance, he seemed to play well when he got timeCBFSThere is a lot to be done and TD has his work cut out.
lasher1116
Dunta Robinson six-year contract, which included a $7 million signing bonus:He’s sent to receive base salaries of $5 million in 2010, $5.5 million in 2011, $6 million in 2012, $7 million in 2013, $9 million in 2014 and $9.5 million in 2015.He’s also set to receive a $3 million bonus in the second year of the deal and could also receive another $5 million in option bonuses. His salary cap numbers are $12 million in 2010, $6.5 million in 2011, $7.75 million in 2012, $8.75 million in 2013, $10.75 million in 2014 and $11.25 million in 2015.http://blogs.ajc.com/atlanta-falcons-blog/2010/03/10/contract-falcons-show-dunta-robinson-the-money/We are stuck with him another 4 seasons, no way in heck we can release him, costs us more money that way. No way we can trade him, no one would take him for that kind of money. we have to keep him another 2 years at least and hope with a new DC and scheme he can play better. falcons4life
Dunta being safe, while probably accurate is not a given.Even if we traded him for a 7th rounder we would be unburdened by his contract. Yet that would mean TD would have to take a big bite of humility and admit his acquisition was garbage.Rams, Colts, Jags.....lots of teams out there that would consider him an upgrade. lasher1116
If we were to release him, he still gets paid the 7.75 million by us, then we have to pay another player to replace him on the roster....it would not be prudent to replace him considering the money we would lose. NateDogg1215
Dunta is not the problem, the problem is the scheme of this defense. he is a man corner playing zone folks............

Now you are trying to win a superbowl here and there is no time to do a total overhaul on the defense side of the ball. Question is.. Who do you replace him with w/o spending the penthous? Got to be a vetern because a rookie is too much of a liability.
pr0d1gy
Mularky will not be fired. He is up for a head coaching job and this is a business. Despite his poor performance the Falcons will keep him until he finds out about the HC job. We should fire him if he isn't (crossing my fingers, please God) hired for a HC position. SoLuvinMyFalcons
Myself personally feels that your secondary is only as good as your defensive line. I have the task of either letting Abe go and signing another defensive end. In my mind I can't let Abe go because he's the only one that apply pressure on the QB. Can't get rid of Ray Edwards because I just sign him to a huge contract. Most likely Ray Edwards stays because I am aware of his knee surgery in the offseason and he's been dealing with pain. So I got to get another year our of him. That is too much money being wasted. I see Abe coming back.

He should be more of a force...But you guys are ina tight spot with Abraham. Hes your only true real pass rusher, but hes going on 34. Has had a bad history of injuries, kind of had a down year, you have alot of free agents this year. Tough decision
hardenmj
Mularkey should not be back but it will be interesting to see how this plays out...He is a head coaching candidate, but after gettting shut out in the biggest game of the season who is going to hire this guy. The organization will probably wait until he is no longer a HC candidate before a move is made.
