Slick Skillet
Nick Cellini just read comments from Roddy made to Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports (very reputtable source). Roddy said that players felt that Mularkey was too conservative in big games. Didn't even try to get the ball down the field. Cellini and Chris Domino agreed. YoungHeezy
They said that the gameplan was not to attack downfield because they didn't think the O-line could hold up. That much was evident...every time a WR caught the ball he was tackled immediately.

Slick Skillet
Roddy said that the coaching staff went into the game with the notion that they couldnt pass protect so why bother trying to throw the ball down field.
=abrahamburger=
I know Roddy was concerned about MM during this season, because everytime he thinks about MM's conservative play-calling, he dropped a pass.Roddy; you led the league in dropped passes this year and had several key drops on crucial downs.Wait, why am I talking directly to Roddy? The season's over and that guys banging Thai Lady-boys in a room made of money. He doesn't care.

number10
Note to staff, grab some yellow legal pads and pens and take some notes on what's going on around the league and other offenses like NO,Detroit, Denver,GB. If you want to call these boring *** predictable plays even into the post season, then try it on the high school level.

You have to have an agresive attacking mentality in order to be at the top in this league. Things have changed, you can not have a defensive mentality and win it all anymore. tobyd77
well SF must be doing something right cause their O-line is 26 ranked yet they beat the gaints this season with a below average line and an average QB that also managed to get a 1st round bye with 13-3 season. guys the talent has out grown the coaching staff which in turn has caused MM to loose this offense and that has been the problem all season on both sides of the ball and if TD and smitty don't get that together quickly they will also loose the team and we all know what happens when a team no longer responds to you as we have seen all year.it should not take you having to baby a team a year with differnt pholisophies to get their attention mentally and phisically. MilleniumFalcon
However, not all of the blame falls on the quarterback. Rather than challenge defenses with aggressive play-calling, Atlanta has played scared. “We talked about trying to establish the running game because we didn’t think we could pass protect,” said Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, who was limited to five catches for 52 yards with a long of only 21 yards. “We played right into their hands. I mean, if they sack us every down and we can’t move the ball, OK. But let’s try.”White’s remarks echo private comments of several other players who have pointed at a disconnection who offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey’s approach. Numerous players believe Mularkey is too conservative, particularly in tense situations like the playoffs.Or as one player put it: “Something has to be said to [coach] Mike [smith] this offseason.”http://sports.yahoo...._falcons_010812 Edited January 9, 2012 by MilleniumFalcon

windu
What are Roddy's drops per target? The number of drops is meaningless without knowing how often he was thrown at. Considering he's been among the top in receptions and targets, I'm guessing you're not giving him a fair assessment. I mean, Kerry Meier probably has the least drops in the league, right, so should we start him instead of Roddy?
windu
Furthermore, I was hoping this would happen (players finally getting fed up enough to break the Falcons' goodie goodie preschool playground team personality). THANK GOODNESS. Let the chips fall where they may.
ATLfanatic
if the O-line can't pass protect, why not slow the rush by running screens or end arounds like Julio had one time for a 1st down, it worked? Keep them off balance with unpredictable play-calling.....oh wait, i'm thinking about a different OC nevermind Edited January 9, 2012 by ATLfanatic

Plays need to be drawn to compensate a rush from the defense.
