King Syrup Golden 32 Oz
At guard. He sucks at DT, BUT he has nimble feet and an athleticism our line lacks. Perhaps he'd bring some attitude? I mean...what do we have to lose with him at this point? Here are some links to other players that have made the same transition.http://www.rantsport...offensive-line/http://www.startribu.../120254349.htmlhttp://www.arrowhead...-confirms-bobby"He got some work last year [on the scout team]," Haley continued. "We coached him. He wasn't just on cards. You have to have a guy that understands some of the blocking schemes and some of the twists. That will be an advantage to him having played a lot of defensive line.” – Todd Haley from the last article posted. From Walter Football about Peria Jerry (pre draft)Outstanding agility and great change of direction ... Tough in a phone booth; will fight ... Strong hands and can re-direct ... Gives second effort ... Solid instincts ... Plays low to the ground ... Very athletic with a nice burst ...... Active ... Comes from football-family tree; nice genetics.Sounds like a NFL Guard to me…Jerry, Peria 94 DT 6-2 294 virtually the same size asHawley, Joe 61 OG 6-3 297 Edited February 14, 2012 by Stylo 2.
hardenmj
We could use him to pick up the loose trash at the Georgia Dome after our home games....That may be about it

hardenmj
How did we miss so big on Jerry and Baker (both first round picks)...I agree that getting rid of Jerry, Baker, and Decoud should be easy decisions.

Rai
Baker was always bad and showed 0 improvement in college. Jerry on the other hand had top 10 talent but was overweight and injury prone.
King Syrup Golden 32 Oz
I mean...we might be able to get something out of him...it's pretty obvious he's not going to be what we expected at DT.*enter someone to say "Yeah, but under Nolan...blah blah blah"
vel
That knee injury had to be something like Bowers' knee injury. It couldn't have just been ligament damage because Jerry had the talent and it's like it just disappeared. It's a shame. You can only continue to hope the light cuts on but I doubt it. falconidae
Got a pretty small cap hit, think Jerry gets another year, maybe just another training camp, to show what he can do. If Nolan likes him and keeps him, that's good enough for me.It may be that in a different scheme, he can produce and be the type of player that TD had in mind when he drafted him. IF so, great, if not, then give Walker some more minutes.

He was always aaround 280-285 in college.now the injuries were defenitely there. I am very disappointed how Jerry tunred out, beings he was the guy I wanted on draft day, but the coaches said after this season they still think Jerry is going to be an impact player, so we will see. It is hard to see that happening now though.
1989Fan
but if Jerry is a Falcon in 2012 it will be at DT. I think he and Babineaux will have a competition for the DT spot. I think Peters has the other spot locked up as of now.

His ideal weight would have been around 270 lbs instead but that's bordering DE size and not DT size. Being too big caused him all sorts of problems with injuries. paulitik
I remember scouts calling Jerry a Warren Sapp clone. They made Peria study his film in college. Sucks that didn't work out.
Rai
I remember scouts calling Jerry a Warren Sapp clone. They made Peria study his film in college. He was. Jerry had unusual quickness and burst for a player of his size. I haven't paid much attention to his play since his injury but before, he was consistently the fastest guy off the line for us. The guy is 6'2" and I dont see 285 as pushing the limit in any way for his build. He is very similar to Babs in build, and as a prospect his talent equalled out to Babs as well. Too bad we havent seen it here.
1989Fan
yeah, Sapp clone was a comparison he got often. My favortie comment was when Ross Tucker described him as a "rolling bucket of butcher knives"he sure looked the part for a couple games until the knee went. Fingers crossed he can return to form.

He just has not been on thefield enough to get going. Like the haters say he has looked terrible. It is not over for him butit is close. Falcon918
I think we need to hold judgement on players until we see what they can do in the new scheme. Mike Nolan is known for getting the best out of his players. Ever heard of Camron Wake or Dumerville before Nolan put his spin on things.Lets no rush to judgement but a least see what they can do playing in a scheme that fits around the talent instead of the other way around. I am confident that some of the players that some have written off will emerge as solid starters in this scheme.

I truly hope we get Bruce Irvin. Let Nolan get his hands on him and play him to his strengths and the kid could be a terror. Nolan is going to play the best players and give everyone equal chances instead of using certain main guys like BVG and MM did. This kills the drive to compete because you know it will be futile, ask Valdez.
ukfalc
There's no point getting rid of Jerry right now, as his cap hit is modest. Let him have another off-season, camp and pre-season and see how he does. If he earns a roster spot then good luck to him, if not, let hm go and move on. citsalp
Yeah Jerry was, and is still a puzzle for me. He was so highly touted, I guess the knee injury took his burst away?Did we ever find out exactly what type of knee injury it was? Microfracture, ACL, ???
