Moving On And Fixing Flaws

Some of you can call for coaches heads if you choose. I ask of you to at least try to look at this from the inside out.

I don't think our current coach and coordinators are going anywhere unless they are hired by another team. As much as some of you discount the regular season success we have had over the last four years I don't see ownership abandoning ship without the ship sinking. As low as yesterday felt the focus needs to be on fixing the problems and not with scrambling to find a new staff with the teams that wish they had been in the playoffs.

As some of you know I have been behind our current staff 100%. I believe that this team has become a talent enriched franchise that is on the cusp of the next level. I also believe if we don't find offensive linemen that can win the battle at the line of scrimmage we are going to continue to struggle against quality opponents. In a have or have not league.....it all starts up front.

We have some talent on this team. The playmakers are there. The Giants exploited our biggest weaknesses and for this team to move forward those weaknesses need to be addressed.

We got mauled in the trenches. The Giants are without a doubt one of the best teams up front on defense and our offensive front was manhandled. There isn't a QB in the league that could have succeeded today behind this offensive line. There isn't an offensive system in the league that could produce behind the effort/talent that this offensive line displayed today.

I have been a Thomas Dimitroff fan since his arrival. I thought he gave our team a new energy. I also think he may have gambled too much in a crucial area that cost us dearly. I think he took a shortcut in building this team and it has been our Achilles' heel. We have drafted the QB, like him or not, that is going to be our guy for the next 8-10 years. We have gave him ample firepower to work with from the skill positions. We just got ahead of ourselves and forgot to get blockers for all of those playmakers.

I will be a Falcons' fan til the day I meet my maker. That will never change. But for me to continue being a fan of Falcons' management I need to see improvement in the quality of offensive lineman on this roster even if it means the exit of some of the star-power positions we currently employ. I realize we don't have a number one pick this season but we shouldn't take that as an excuse. I don't care if Tommy D. himself has to scour Asia to find Sumo wrestlers to play offensive line it has to be addressed.

Those that want to focus their energy toward ripping this staff have at it. That's your right as a fan and I hope you find the satisfaction you are looking for by doing so. I don't get it but we all have different points of view. I'm currently behind management and staff and reserve the right to change my opinion when I see what changes are made or not made in player personal.

I'm looking forward to seeing what moves this team makes in free agency and the draft. I'll even go to Japan and scout a few Sumo wrestlers if Mr. Blank will cover the expenses. In the meantime I'll postpone my dance down Peachtree and try to hide my disappointment until next season.

....only a couple of hundred days until camp!

Sad and dissapointed with today's loss just like everyone else.

BUT i still love my Falcons. WIN LOSE OR **** DRAW.

We had a 10-6 season.

4th Consecutive winning season.

3 out of 4 Seasons making the Playoffs.

Our Francise QB Matt Ryan had his best season. 29 TDS, 4000+ yards, 90+ QB Rating. He is not an "Elite QB" yet. But he is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay above average despite what Mr. Swift says.

I Trust our GM to make changes and adjustments. Yes TD has not hit on every single draft pick or FA signing. But he has built a contending team and will make the changes needed to improve this roster.

I Trust Mike Smith is the coach to lead this team to a Lombardi.

Michael Jordan the greatest basketball player EVER took 6 years to win his first ring. He got beat by the Pistons over and over until he finally conquered them. Once Matt and this team figures it out. Watch out folks.

We are Young and we will be Dangerous.

Falcons Fan For Life

Nate

Guys, Mike Mularkey is gone. We got blanked by Defense ranked in the 20s. If anything is obvious is that Mike Mularkey doesn't know what to do with this offense. I understand the OL is an issue, probably the biggest. Someone has to fall on his sword. They might stall to let him get a HC job, but he's a goner.

I can't agree any more. Watching the playoffs it has become abundantly clear to me that the difference between us and the elite teams is in the trenches. I watched drew brees Saturday night against a great d Line stand in the pocket and make 3-4 reads all night. Matt looks at one read and immediately checks down. If the check down isn't there it's a sack. Plain and simple. OP I'll gladly join you on the trip to Japan, let me know when we take off.

Any Falcon fan who honestly assesses the offensive performance from the Giant debacle and thinks that it's perfectly acceptable to keep all of the coaching staff intact deserves the inevitable repeat performance(s) we will be witnessing next year.

Seriously? This is acceptable to people?

Ummm.....acceptable? C'mon man. You know I'm a fan. How could I ever see this as acceptable?

I'm a Falcons' fan. No coach, GM, player or even owner for that matter is above my love for the Atlanta Falcons.

I'm crushed.....same as you. But I knew we were in trouble when we went to Chicago in game one of the season. I had much less faith than some of you about our trip to NY. I knew the mismatches we were facing in NY and was labeled an apologist for saying so.

I know we differ on this Gritz. (and many others)

Mularkey may very well be gone regardless if he is hired elsewhere or not. If someone does indeed fall on the sword it would probably be him. It may make many feel better to see Mularkey get the boot. If things don't change with our offensive line that 'feel better' will be short lived. The current shape of our offensive line will bury any offensive coordinator that could possibly replace Mularkey. There isn't an offensive system in the NFL that doesn't need adequate blocking up front to make it successful.

Mularkey is getting interviews for HC positions for a reason. If he gets hired elsewhere it will probably make many people happy. Our offense was stagnant during most of our road games this season and many people will think that our problems have been solved. But this team will fail once again due to the lack of talent up front if measures aren't taken to fix this offensive line.

What hurt us more than anything was missing the off season workouts, and OTA's. We NEVER looked in synch. Losing Dahl hurt more than they thought it would. None of the ends really stepped up to help Abe. Zero continuity and chemistry on both sides of the line. That all played out yesterday.

As a fan, all we can do until next season is wait and see.

As to regular season successes and this staff: We beat bad teams and mostly lose to good teams. It's good enough to usually make the playoffs. It's not good enough to win there.

Most longtime Falcons fans can glance at our schedule and tell where we'll finish within one or two games at most.

For some reason, it takes some people more than just a slap to wake up. Some people need to be smacked in the face with the obvious bat before any sense is knocked into them. I thought for sure that this game would be that bat.

Funny thing is.....I feel the same way.

Yeah and to add to that, if you got players alledgedly grumbling about his play calling that's a strong sign dude is a gonner. Blank said himself the players ultimately control the locker room. So once you start to lose your players, it's over.

Well lets talk about the solution.Carl Nicks should be available since NO has to resign Brees and Colston is FA.They can't afford them all.It is time for McClure to hang em up and either move Hawley or sign say Hardwick from San Diego. Then the Demetrius Bell from Buffalo as the new left tackle....6'5 311 and athletic.

On defense we need a huge run stuffer, pocket crusher that takes two blocker to defend..that should help the outside rushers and would also allow some 3-4 schemes.....also a safety that shows up in pass coverage...

Obviously there needs to be some changes
