jgator21
Its looking like it will in fact by Boise St. OC Brent Pease. We apparently have been negotiating for about a week and a half with him. Taking a little longer because it also seems that a few days ago Saban contacted him and offered him the same position at Bama. More to come as I here it. Porter Osborne Jr
Does his style fit the ground and pound O that Saban likes. He seems like a better fit at UF.

Maybe Saban wants his offense to change philosophies...? no idea.

I would be surprised if Pease does not take the Florida job -- Alabama likely promotes Groh in the end.

tophnjesus
Funny how it sounds like Saban runs the ENTIRE team and just needs other people around to take the job titles, because you're supposed to have them on a team.
GAbred
Do Gator fans worry at all that their offensive success was in large part due to a QB who had that system down pat? I don't know the guys record, but has he done it without Moore? I still think Meyer looked good because of Tebow and a great defense. Threepac Daddy
i would also be happy with this hire, what about kerwin bell as the qb coach. heard some rumors on that in, but figured it was just a rumor and nothing more

They seem to develop their coaches just as well as their players out there. This would be a great hire for UF imo... the biggest complaint that I saw was the complete lack of adjustments or putting guys in positions to succeed. That is something Boise State absolutely does at the highest level of effectiveness. Chris Petersen is an offense guy, but he's not a micromanaging nut like Nick Saban. I'm jealous. jgator21
Pease was also the OC under Guy Morriss at Kentucky when Jared Lorenzen was the QB there and was the OC at Baylor from 03 to 05. Hes been the asst. HC at Bosie since then.
Billy Ocean
Wonder if theres a place for Matt Jones and Derrick Henry type runningbacks in a Pease-type offense?

I guess Pease has coached enough places that he should be able to adapt though.

Carter
Wonder if theres a place for Matt Jones and Derrick Henry type runningbacks in a Pease-type offense?I would think so, he's shown that he puts together good offenses. I wouldn't expect him to carry on the running joke of trying to force the Florida offense to be something it's not. Normally these guys are supposed to be able to suit an offense to best use the players... Addazzio and Weis just kinda forced what they wanted to do. Boise State has run multiple offenses for years now, similarly to TCU... just kinda do a little of everything for the situation at hand. Now they just need to get the receivers.EDIT: and backs. I was referring to the passing game specifically but UF has some rebuilding to do yet. Good hire IMO. CrimsonKat
Billy Napier hired to be the QB coach for McElwain at Colorado State. Most felt if Groh was simply promoted to OC that Napier would get the spot Groh vacated at WR Coach. That has led some to believe that Alabama may already have their man at OC and that Groh will not be promoted -- not sure whether that means Pease or somebody else though.
