Falcon Blitz
Looks like Mularkey is out of the running. Guesse we are stuck with Mularkey again this season.NFL Network's Albert Breer has heard "continually" that Bengals OC Jay Gruden is the favorite to be the Jaguars' next head coach.Jacksonville has targeted almost strictly offensive coordinators in its coaching search. Jon's younger brother, Jay Gruden has earned a reputation for tutoring young quarterbacks via his work with Andy Dalton. Gruden cannot interview with the Jaguars until after Saturday's game against Houston, at soonest, but it sounds like he's still high on Jacksonville's short list. Gruden would implement a "horizontal" West Coast offense after Blaine Gabbert played his first year in Dirk Koetter's (theoretically) vertical-based scheme.Source: Albert Breer on Twitter Jan 4 - 8:23 PM

Guest Negatorris
Now the only way we're gonna get an OC is if we go one and done in the playoffs or something. *dies*
Steel City Falcon
Makes sense with the work he did with Dalton this year.

rightsaidfred
Makes sense with the work he did with Dalton this year. But Gabbert is garbage. If they expect Gruden, MM or anyone to go to JAX and fix him, it will be an early exit for that HC.....................JMO.............. vel
Getting to the Playoffs is a gift and a curse. I think MM is still a possibility in JAX, TB, and MIA. The fact that he is being allowed to interview for a HC position means the Falcons are fine moving on without him. Ask the Packers why Tom Clements isn't getting ANY interviews lol
didz
Shadid Khan just set his franchise back another 10 years with that move. In the words of Khan - FIrst thing you do, is you learn

vafalconfan
That's just weird. Last year he was coaching in the UFL. Now he's a HC candidate?..
1989Fan
isnt MM in the last year of his deal? maybe not, for some reason I thought he was.If he is, nobody needs to take him if ATL is ready to move on. I do not think MM is a bad OC. I do think Ryan and our offense has outgrown his style of coaching though.

They want him to take a HC job.thats an easy fix.Hire his replacement. Then Smith says to MM"With how great of an OC you have been we were sure you would get a HC job. We didnt want to sit and wait and lose out on top OC talent, since the standard was set so high"

We didnt want to sit and wait and lose out on top OC talent, since the standard was set so high"That would have happened last year then. That's why I say that. I truly think MM was headed out until he heard about the plans to possibly move and get Julio/Green. Why else would he have stopped interviewing. g-dawg
That's just weird. Last year he was coaching in the UFL. Now he's a HC candidate?..the name "Gruden" carries some cache' in NFL circles. My guess is if his name was "Jay Smith" he would not be possibly in position to even interview for the Jax HC job.
Snowen
it makes me sad so much.. sigh. Lets just hope somehow Mularkey will become the favorite since hes been a HC before and been in the league longer. Its our only hope.has it ever said mularkey is officially out of the race? I havent seen that. Please god no, we can't live another year with him. TD better be as smart as I think he is and fire MM if he doesnt get a job this year. You can justify not re-signing him it by saying you need a long term replacement that isn't looking for the first HC gig he can get. This team needs to move on to the next phase of the offense. PSSSHHHRRR87
ESPN has been reporting that MM is a front man for the job, so it seems that different people are reporting different stories. We will see...

Smith is Mora Jr 2.0, willing to sink the ship with Knapp and Donatel. Thats why i think Smith needs to go too. If he is willing to agree with TD (who clearly knows what hes doing) and fire MM and BVG, then Smith can stay. Otherwise, gtfo
