With the exception of a nagging hamstring injury, Jones has been everything the Falcons expected, catching 54 passes for 959 yards and eight touchdowns. However, the Falcons are still largely stuck in their high-percentage, low-risk offensive philosophy and they know it. Offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey keeps too tight a grip on the play-calling, resulting in an offense that often looks to grind away in a league built on big plays. The Falcons were held to 23 points or fewer in their five games against playoff teams (1-4). They’ll likely need to get that offense clicking at a much more productive level in order for coach Mike&Smith and quarterback Matt Ryan to get their first playoff win.(Sorry, this new format isn't friendly to the archaic IE browser I use at work)
ol'_dirty2
That about sums up how a lot of people on this board feel about it too. It is time to release the hounds...so to speak. There is no tomorrow unless we win. I expect an attacking relentless effort by the offense this week. I have been wrong before, but this time I really believe it will happen. Win or go home!!! Guest JoeSr
I agree with this: learning to attack. That is the bottom line. I believe we have the talent and potential on offense to be great. We have a serviceable defense and they have actually been the highlight of our season; they would probably look better when the offense lives up to their potential. We don't need to learn to attack because we already know how to; we just need for Smith to stop being stubborn.
Guest JoeSr
Against a good pass rush and a mediocre run defense I actually wouldn't mind a conservative, ball control offense on Sunday. This is a great point! Plus, the Giants offense is very good, but not scary good like that of the Patriots or Packers. So, limiting their offensive possessions would be a huge plus. fansince78
To be fair, you could have posted this too:No. 4 New York GiantsFlaw: Nowhere to run It seems like only a couple of years ago that the lasting image of the Giants was the downhill running game led by behemoth back Brandon Jacobs. Now, the only thing loud about the Giants’ running game is literally Jacobs’ mouth (gotta love him, but he doesn’t exactly hit the hole anymore). The Giants have the league’s worst running game, ranking dead last in yards per game (89.2) and per carry (a paltry 3.5 at a time when 25 of the league’s 32 teams are above 4.0 and three are above 5.0). Some of that is attributable to injuries (Ahmad Bradshaw missed four games and was limited to 171 carries), but a lot is because the offensive line just isn’t the same. As a result, the Giants have had to depend on the passing of quarterback Eli Manning

mountain_jim3
I think some quick slants to julio could help neutralize that rush, also the draws and counters we used a few games back.I view this game as the chance to see what Smith, Mularkey, and Van Gorder have learned this year.If anything.... Carl927
I doubt that flaw is "fatal" - at least versus NY.
