Falcon keys to victory:

1. Run the ball effectively

2. Control the time of possession

3. Slow the Giant pass rush

4. Slow the passing game of the Giants

5. No offensive turnovers

It will take a very sound game to beat the Giants at home, because the Giant strengths are the Falcon's weaknesses....

Eli can throw the ball and the Falcons are weak in pass coverage.

The Giants can pass rush and the Falcons O-line is suspect.

The Falcons have not been a good road team this season.

So if the Falcons run the ball and control the clock, they can win.

But I see this game 27-20 Giants, mainly because of home field advantage.

I think Atlanta matches up well against New York. Their pass rush and Eli are concerns, but they run an offense similar to ours. The Falcons have stopped the run well all season, save the last Saints game. Weather shouldn't be a factor 50 degrees and sunny.

ATL 34

NY 27

Your prediction doesn't match your vote....

DVOA rankings for both teams:

overall (weighted)

Falcons 19.5% =6th

Giants 4.8% = 16th

offense

Falcons 10.3% = 12th

Giants 15.6% = 7th

defense

Falcons -6.2% = 6th

Giants 6.9% = 20th

Giants offense is pretty one dimensional, if the falcons can slow down cruz they should be ok. as far as the falcons oline being suspect against the pass rush, they were rated as the 7th best in pass protection.

falcons win a close game, 30-27

We dont even need to stop Cruz...he will get his catches. What we need to do is tackle him and keep him from turning 5 yard outs to 40 yard td's

something the cowboys could not do.

the pass rush of the giants can be a handful but we run alot of 3 and 5 step drops and we have run alot of draws,

So if they try to get too fiesty and start stunting like they did Turner could have some big lanes.

We gave up 26 sacks this year after giving up 13 in first 3 weeks.

We run a fair amount of max protections and usually keep backs in to block.

So I do not see the giants pass rush being as effective vs us as they might have been against other teams.

Plus Ryan does a GREAT job of getting hte ball out of his hands ( which is imo the biggest reason for only giving up 13 sacks the last 13 games)

Personally, I like how we've finally scrapped the "rollout right throwaway" play for the "hit Julio in the middle for a TD" play. It seems to be working much better for us.

Seriously. It's as if Mularkey has just figured this out.

It may be a bit too simplistic, but scoring TD's instead of FG's has been the key to Falcon success vs failure most often. The offense moving the ball is not the problem. The offense FINISHING the drive is much more to blame.

I think our D can do just enough to get us the win if we finish our offensive drives. I'll say that if the Cowboys couldn't get consistent pressure on Eli then I doubt we'll fare any better. Once again, to be completely honest, I'm counting on a little bit o' luck in the turnover department to get us the win. Luck, and the fact that we cause a turnover or two darn near every game. Hey, we're not 10-6 completely by accident.wink.png

I went ahead and voted Falcons by ten (the 8-13 point vote), but more realistically I think we'll be up by ten late, and give up a scary late TD to barely hold out for a three point win.

I did not say The oline sucked.

Lets put it this wya,, the faclosn dropped back 63 times vs the saints..........52 by Ryan you know how many sacks we gave up??

ZERO

Which ironically is the exact chance the coowboys have at the playoffs this year.

cowboy bashing aside. Had Ryan not been good at getting the ball out of his hands he would have been sacked 4 or 5 times.

So yeah Ryan does a good job of getting the ball out his hand and avoiding being sacked.

The giants are so wacky. I'm not sure which team will show up. I hope the good giants show up. A win against the lions saturday night coupled with a loss for the falcons at the giants would be an early christmas present. TATF would be soooooooo entertaining.

About as entertaining as saints report if the saints lost

Yea, he dropped back 52 times and got one TD and three incompletions on 4th down.

again, there you go giving Ryan the credit for not getting sacked, altho you guys have been #####ing about the O line all year. Never gonna bring yourself to admit your O line isn't as bad as you'd like to give Ryan another excuse. We get it. Believe me....we get it.

seriously, this is such a hard game to pick because both teams are so iffy. What if the Falcons who lost to the Bucs show up and the Giants who lost to the Skins twice show up? Will ANYbody win?

Or the Falcons who let TJ Yates beat them show up and the Giants who beat the Pats show up?

I seriously can't think of a "signature" win for either team.

Oddly, our "signature" wins are against bad teams. 41-14 against the Jags; 45-24 against the Buccs. Our signature? We beat the teams we're SUPPOSED to beat the way we're supposed to beat them, handily.

As the old adage goes, Manning doesn't play on defense, and the Colts have Freeney, Mathis... but the line kept Matt upright and the offense clicked.

We drove the field right nicely against the Saints for a good while in the first half till things started going truly South

Forget the simplicity of "offense" or "defense"; scoring touchdowns instead of field goals will be the one and only determining factor to winning this game.

if thats your signature then you fail, You also LOST to the Bucs instead of beating them the way you were"supposed" to do" Beating the Bucs and Jags like you did is no more impressive than Dallas going it likewise to the Bucs and Bills. The difference is, you don't see ME hanging my hat on such games. Sorry..And Manning doesn't play D any more than Matty, but they have a few guys like Osi, Tuck and Paul you may want to keep someone's eye on.Or Matt will see them way too much.

and TJ Yates. Nuff said.
