Peyton
Where do you think the Atlanta Falcons finished ranked this season in sacks allowed?

=abrahamburger=
I'd think about that on a chair, or possibly at my desk.
RS91
5th? We didn't give up that many. Mostly because Ryan doesn't hold onto the ball too long in an effort to extend the play, not because the OL did a good job in pass protection. The Falcons gave up 13 sacks in the first 3 games, then 13 sacks for the rest of the year, and they aren't throwing 5 yard hitches on every throw. NewFalcon
Interesting. I would have guessed somewhere around 12-14th, but when we moved Baker out it seemed like our sacks allowed decreased as well.
Dem Birds
We gave up 26, right? Unless we gave up 1 yesterday, I can't remember now.
Peyton
We gave up 26, right? Unless we gave up 1 yesterday, I can't remember now.Yes, that's right. 13 in the first 3 weeks, then 13 over the last 13 games.
Tandy
Ranking with or without Sam Baker?
kiwifalcon
But for all the bagging our coaches have taken saying Ryan doesn't get enough time to throw the deep ball what a crock as Ryan is up there in both passes over 20+ and 40+ yards also. Also the fact the coaches gave Baker and Reynolds a fair shot before making the changes over the bye week bringing in Svitek and Hawley taking that into consideration the O-line play has been above average in my mind. Mid-Nite-Toker
It's a combo of MR getting the ball out better and the line has played better overall(pass), especially with Svitek.Anyone know where the Falcons rank in run blocking? That's actually been more disappointing at times IMHO.
Bird of a Feather
Surprisingly good, though almost as surprising is how bad the offensive line is statistically on the run.http://footballoutsiders.com/stats/olAtlanta is the most Stuffed team in the league. 25% of Falcon runs are stopped at or behind the line. blackredfellow
Ryan's quick release and throw aways on some plays prevent a lot of sacks. The number of pressures that he gets is way too high IMO.The line did play better for a stretch there, when Baker first got hurt, but you are right, Ryan seems to always be under pressure. Ryan is very good at throwing the ball away and escaping the pocket though, so the sack numbers are deceiving. Sometimes Ryan does leave the pocket a little too early, but I think he got used to running for his life in the first few weeks.

That would be interesting to look at those numbers.Bye, bye, Sam Baker!!!
Robb4242
Where do you think the Atlanta Falcons finished ranked this season in sacks allowed?Did you notice Ryan's adjustment after the first couple of weeks to get the ball out immediately, either to a receiver or just throwing it away for self-preservation? Ryan has zero confidence in this OL.

They got better once Hawley got in and got his feet wet but yeah, we're only 60% to an o-line that I'd call "good"...

We seen a lot quicker check downs & throw aways from Ryan in order to keep from getting killed by the OL than we did the first 3 weeks. It's not that the OL had improved so much as it was we changed up routes and made fewer reads in order to save our QB and that has reduced the sack numbers. Peyton
The Falcons have thrown a ton of deep balls in the second half of the season, I'm not sure how I'm the only one who has seen that.
Aftermath
We did pretty good with the sack, he got pressured way more though.
JBeattz
The oline seemed much better during the second half. Even with all the stuffs turner leads the NFC in rushing. Need to work on the red zone though.
falconsfan84
They also gave up 84 Qb hits, 7th most in the league.http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tabSeq=2&role=TM&offensiveStatisticCategory=OFFENSIVE_LINE&d-447263-n=1&d-447263-o=2&archive=false&d-447263-p=1&d-447263-s=PASSING_QBHIT&qualified=true
