NateDogg1215
Ive noticed last couple of years that Mike Smith likes to give out the Captains after the season?? I dont see any "C" patches on any of our players. Why does Mike Smith do this?
=abrahamburger=
We've had a captain? I don't remember anyone being a captain last year. I wasn't aware that he did that (I kind of like that).
Club212
I don't care, as long as we have LEADERS & VOICES in the locker room.
NateDogg1215
I think every team is supposed to have 5 captains. Not sure when the NFL did this maybe a couple of years ago.

slamee101
I'm pretty sure there is at least 1 other team that doesn't do this. Can't remember who though.
Thiccolas Cage
Ive never seen Tom Brady with a C on his shoulder.
Thiccolas Cage
I don't see what the point is to even wear the Captain patch. If you're on the team, aren't you supposed to know who the Captains are anyway?

NateDogg1215
i understand all your guys points, but im just saying didnt the NFL do this. They wanted to promote leadership on teams. Im just wondering why Mike Smith does it this way. Ill tweet Jay Adams see if he has an answer............. Some of the fans on the Falcons Forum were wondering why there is no in season "Captains"?DetailsJay Adams@FalconsJAdams2m@NateDogg0209LTL Falcons rotate captains each week. NateDogg1215
not sure if that clears it up or makes it more confusing
Thiccolas Cage
I remember someone bringing that up in the offseason one year. Mike Smith stated that guys are rotated frequently in the lineup so it was irrelevant to even name one person the Captain. I think that the point he was trying to make was if we did have a Captain, it would only be MattyIce.
Thiccolas Cage
I think that mainly applies to our defensive unit.
madman88
you need to pay more attention, mike smith said his first year here that we always issue captains at the end of the season for who they felt has been worthy of being voted team captain... NateDogg1215
Jay Adams@FalconsJAdams20s@NateDogg0209LTL To my knowledge, we don't have any players that wear the "C" on their jersey.

NateDogg1215
per wikipediahttp://en.wikipedia....e_team_captainsIn the National Football League, the team captain designation is a team-appointed position that designates certain players as leaders on and off the field. The captains program was implemented by the NFL Player Advisory Council established by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in conjunction with the NFL Players Association. Players with the C patch on their jerseys represents team captain and the number of stars filled in on the patch represents the number of consecutive years that player has been named captain by that team. If they've been named captain for longer than four years, the "C" on the patch is gold. Some teams (e.g., New England) do not have this patch on their jerseys but still designate captains.@FalconsJAdams Oh Ok, i thought the NFL made every team pick 5 captains and thats how you have the players wearing the "C" on their jerseys@NateDogg0209LTL Nah. But I know that Smitty likes to rotate captains, which is why we don't wear the "C." Edited January 2, 2012 by NateDogg1215
