Smith Should Be Angry With Himself

Recommended Posts

Mike Smith, seen fuming on the Falcons sideline after his defense had surrendered 24 straight points, needs to accept a little responsibility himself. Matt Ryan and Michael Turner were pulled in the 2nd quarter, taking the steam out of the offense. Not very fair to leave your defense in that position, days after they had been chewed up in New Orleans the previous Monday and with a playoff gaming looming as early as Saturday.

Atlanta had the chance to really show the killer instinct that has been sorely lacking. The failure to do so rests with Mike Smith.

Yeah the defense went back to the soft zone crap instead of being aggressive and attacking

You would think by now they would know we don't get pressure with just the front 4 unless Abraham is in the game

More fuel for Group 2...

Well, as critical as I can be of this stuff, we were up 42-0, the defense was playing softer obviously, and they didn't come back. They were still THREE TDs short. They weren't going to win the game. Not that big of a deal IMO.

And I am in group #2, so I'm not being a homer by saying this. : )

This performance is all a reflection of Mike Smith. You don't get anymore average than a guy named mike smith, who is ultra conservative on offense and defense, never let's lose and says what needs to be said, until this team get's a reallity check they will continue to sweep it's issues under the rug.

Man, I would love to sweep YOU under a rug.

Troll.

This is a joke right? If you wanna be mad be mad at the backups that allowed the "comeback" if you can even call it that. Redman threw a pick and Quizz fumbled on the goal line. We still had the scoring mentality when those things happened. I'm surprised no one is blaming Roddy for losing this game with his three more drops lol!

I would have thought that our first string putting up 42 points before half time, and giving us an opportunity to rest and avoid injury to those key players, and then still going on to win the game by at least 3 touchdowns would be seen as a good day at the office...

The only legitimate concern from today's game is that our backups aren't very good (not saying I believe this, just that it could be argued...)!

Well the Bucs get to spend real money on their players also so I wouldn't put too much stocks on our backups didn't look good against their starters. That supposed to happen in the NFL.

And now a second idiotic thread. They scored against mostly backups. The game was never even close. You guys really need to grow up and quit whining like babies!

It's not about winning or by how much. It was about trying to keep the defense fresh for what might be a Saturday game next week. A Saturday game would mean 3 games in a 12 day span. New Orleans had already tired the defense out. Given the situation, Ryan could have been left in the game with relatively little risk.
