I want him to remain here as our OC to help maintain fluidity of operations, consistency of personnel. However, I wouldn't grimace if he left. The only concern is finding someone sutiable to feel the huge shoes he would leave.

Everyone is so quick to throw around names like McDaniels and such. Why?

Your just hoping Mike Smith get fired and what a way to do that by keeping the same Cords that doesn't know how to get it done... how close am I?

He basically turned down the Titans HC job. He also wasted another teams time, the Broncos I believe. Hopefully he takes it serious this year and accepts the gig if offered to him. I just hope we find someone better to replace him

Show me one place where it's stated that MM turned down the TN job down. John Fox was a lock for Denver.

he's not really the problem, u guys blame MM for blown assignments, Oline not being able to open holes, turner's timid running, WR Drops, & ryan's free reign (changing the play at the line to what he likes depending on defense). He cant help it if its 3rd and 5 and ryan throws it 2yards short. would i like to see more 4-5wr sets? of course but look at the bums we have starting on the o-line.

Wasting your keystrokes man. People have convinced themselves that everything that goes wrong with the offense is MM's fault.

I don't get the love affair w/ McDaniels either.

Wow, this sums up my sentiments exactly of the AFMB majority regarding our coaching staff/coordinators. We fix our lines and we will see great improvement across the board; except special teams. On defense, we do not have as talented and skilled a group as people here believe we have. We overrate our defensive talent/skill prowess. Major issue with the defense: No defensive line; just a wall helping to protect the other QB. On offense, we have been too inconsistent on field to judge MM's job. Drops, overthrows, underthrows, three and outs, not getting the ball pass the first down marker, checking down, etc. Major issue with the offense: No offensive line; just posing like runway models.

FIX THE LINES!!!

Earlier in the year this may have been a good argument. But since the bye week the o line has been doing a much better job. At least well enough for MM to figure out how to get something going. The offense still sputters against good teams and most of the time it looks like the playcalling is lacking. Getting a couple new o lineman in the offseason won't fix our problems. Either MM draws up a whole new playbook, or we need to bring in a new coordinator to use our many tools effectively.

Same on defense as well. Which, if Smith is the designer of our defense, he should probably go as well. The whole coaching staff should go in that case.

I've been screaming to fix the lines for over 10 years on these boards & I'm about ready to give up hope that it's ever going to happen. Watch Brady when he drops back. He reaches the top of his drop and can stand flat-footed and look at 4 receivers. He has more time after he reaches the top of his drop until he passes than Ryan does from the time he takes the snap until he's forced to release the ball. Our offense can't get too imaginative because we need either 2 backs or 2 TE's in the game as much as possible just to help the OL in protection. That really limits the amount of routes and the depth of routes that we can run. The FO has to fix the line problem before we can really open up this offense. But people want to just blame MM for lack of creativity. Stupid really. Get creative & we'd go through 4 QB's in a season because they would all end up in traction.

Someone else was asking why McDaniels is always brought up, that's an excellent question. McDaniels took over an established New England offense and basically only kept it from completely falling apart. He parlayed that into a HC gig where he failed miserably and about ruined that franchise by his arrogance and refusal to work with Jay Cutler. Then he goes to St. Louis where the regression of their 2nd year QB was incredible. That offense is averaging 11.1 points per game, almost 3 points less than the 2nd worst team in the league. Bradford's TD per attempt was cut in half. His completion percentage dropped by 6.5%. And his number of sacks increased dramatically (nice having Harvey Dahl on your OL eh Bradford?). Josh McDaniels is the absolute last person I would want to see here as our OC. I have no clue what people see in him.

Just curious, do you think we play well offensively when running in the no huddle? Is it better when Matt is calling the plays in the heat of the game?

this is becoming a Passing ruled league. all new rules are making passing team prosper and having an edge. we have the tools (roddy/douglas/julio/quizz) to prosper as a passing team.

MM was never known to be a great passing OC. his routes are terrible, hardly any guys going over middle (usually open). and his playcalling sucks.

Well, I have jumped on the "bash MM bandwagon" occasionally. But I am smart enough to know I really don't know anything.

We have won a lot of game with MM's playbook and playcalling, so in that respect I like the guy. But at times the playcalling seems too predictable, and the passing game seems to restrained.

IF the Jags hire him, we will get to see just how good/bad he was while he was our OC when someone else gets the job.

everybody PRAY this finally happens! Its our only way of winning a SB. Hopefully some college job calls for BVG also, or else we're back to the bottom of the NFC.

I knew the season was over last year when the Titans hired Manchuk instead, I even told my friend whos a huge Titans fan "They made the best decision of their franchise not hiring MM, but unfortunately doomed the Falcons" - and turns out it was true.

PRAY PRAY PRAY

the headsets can be broke over there, they get rid of smith and then hire his understudy...makes about as much sense as us hiring him in the first place
