THE ICEMAN
Just forgot about getting some revenge on the Saints for a minute and looked at the overall picture. For the Falcons to win the super bowl more than likely they'll have to start by beating the Saints then head up to Greenbay and if they were lucky or hot enough to win that one to then they'll have to beat the 49ers in sanfran and then the super bowl which will more than likely involve the Ravens,Steelers or Patirots. And If they pulled it off I think Matt Ryan would have to take his game from an elite level to an all time great level. But me my opion is if they can beat the Saints and scare Greenbay which would give them a lot of confidence heading into next year and something to grow on. Tribal Chief
Homers will say that it will be easy and we can pull off the unthinkable. But the truth is it will be very tough. Even if we play one of the East teams in the first round, we still face another 1 and out. Unless this team turns everything around in the next 2 weeks, this team will be sitting home in February once again
vabchbirdlover
Anything possible, but to avoid a one and done, the players need to execute way better and show alot more heart.

slamee101
This year, not happening. I'm just hoping our FO doesn't get into this "we're on the right path so let's keep everything as is" mode.
swift
I will put us at 0.6 % chance make super bowlIf we get 5 seed and have to play Dal/NYG - GB - SF/ New Orleans - 1.4%Let's just say you have a better chance to marry Oprah then us making to Super Bowl
Falc_Fan_Since_Six
I'm sure I'll take a lot of flak for this but honestly, I think if I just see us win a playoff game this year I'll be happy. We had a chance at the SB last year but unfortunately out timing was awful and we ran into a virtual buzzsaw in the form of GB. I haven't felt like we really had a shot at the SB this year since way back early in the season. I know people get tired of hearing Smitty and TD talk about the "process" but really that's what it is. We add pieces every year but it takes time for those pieces to have an effect. Guys like Weatherspoon , Julio Jones, and Jacquizz Rogers are just going to continue to get better and better. At some point it's all going to jell but we are not there yet and I think the expectations on this message board are unrealistic at this point. Last year lulled everyone into thinking we were on the cusp but in my mind we are another year or two away form being a major player like N.O. and GB are. People seem to forget sometimes that it was a few years after Brees and Payton got to N.O. that it all came together for them. They had growing pains just like we are having. Same with GB. Unfortunately for us it was last year in the playoffs that everything just sort of " clicked" at once for them.
Dem Birds
Falcons best chance is with the 5 seed, Detroit can hang with New Orleans in a shoot out, we can't. We have a much better chance in Lambeau I think than in New Orleans.
BankerBird™
There's an old adage that comes to mind that goes like this: "Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right."The road to the Super Bowl will be only as difficult as the Falcons make it for themselves. I know that sounds simplistic, but, that's how I see it. The more the Falcons focus on their own abilities and capabilities, the less they'll focus on those of their opponent, which, hopefully, will result in a "can" versus "can't" mindset. After all, half the battle is believing you can do it. If you don't believe that, then don't even bother to suit up because you're already defeated anyway. Winning or losing the Super Bowl begins in the mind, not on the football field.

Guest Gritz
It doesn't matter at this point how hard or easy the path to the Superbowl is.It's a brand new season and there are 20 teams who would trade spots with us today.
Wokezone
this is a dumb question.......How hard is it? Eqiually hard for any team in the playoffs.
Rai
It's going to be really hard but it's not impossible. Ryan will have to step up his game. White will have to play like Fitzgerald did in his Super Bowl run. The D has to step up big, the same way the Colts D did in 2006. I can't remember the NFC being this strong in recent years. Good thing about Ryan is that when he gets hot, it's usually for a streak of games. Let's just hope it's in time for the run to the Super Bowl.2008 - week 9 to week 142010 - week 6 to week 122011 - week 10 to 12, week 14 to week
Isosceles
Anything possible, but to avoid a one and done, the players need to execute way better and show alot more heart.I think it's almost exactly like Georgia having LSU looming. Players try to believe they have just as much talent and can win the game. But deep inside, they know they can't compete well enough, consistently enough to win (over N.O. or G.B.). FalconFanSince1970
I'm reviewing the Aint MNF game right now and I still believe if we execute and cut down on mistakes we can whoop anybody's as. Trust me on this one folks. Yep that's even with Smitty, BVG and MM. If that makes me a homer then call me Homer Simpson. One thing for sure I dam sho aint quit already like most of the defeatists on this thread.
vdove0926
Mike SMith calls it the second season. Once the ball is kicked off in the playoff game what we did in the regular season does not matter. It's obvious to me we are built for a playoff run this year. Look what happens when we try to string games together and play a certain way. I think with the type of regular season we had the phrase, "Why Not Us?" is better for this playoff season.Seriously, take it ne game at a time, you only have to win by 1 so this we have no chance stuff doesnt make since because of number 11. When will he break one to the house? it may or may not happen but the threat is there and in a 60 minute do or die game number 11 can put us ovr the top.Number 11 is the wild card for this team.
