THE ICEMAN
I have watched the game NO-ATL game fully twice now as well as there earlier game they played. And it you can watch both of them again do so. Because It looked more like the falcons Defense didn't want to show the Saints anything different. They didn't really bilitz the Saints like they had in the earlier match up and yes Brees did burn them in that game but they were applying a lot more pressure and collapsing the pocket and just keeping Brees a liitle off.And yes we still probaly would have still lost because the offense could score TD's but more than likely it wouldn't of been 45-16. But I think to many people are buying in to this 45-16 loss as this is going to be the spread from now on between these two teams. The biggest margin of victory from these two teams have been pretty much 3 points with the falcons take a huge 44-24 win in Matts rookie year the rest of the games besides Monday's lost had been around 3 points like I said and that inculdes a 3 point lose with Chris Redman runing the show. So everybody needs to take a deep breath and watch our much younger much hunger team send the Saints home in two weeks. And I think the coaching Staff as well as players know that it could mean hole sale changes if they don't get the job done. Rember sometimes a good old fashion a$$whipping is what you need and our guys surely got that and hopfully thats what they needed. You have to ask your self if you picked up some things that you would know would help you beat the Saints why not save that for a game in two weeks when everything is on the line. And trust me that getting beat at home in a playoff game by the dirtybirds would hurt a **** of a lot more than Brees breaking a meanless record which he could lose this weekend to Brady! freebird310
Yea and BVG had 11 days to develop this brilliant game plan, WTF ? .................
MilleniumFalcon
I have no confidence in BVG.
shc
I noticed that too. I have tried to be optimistic and hoped that it was because the falcons knew they were going to playoffs and would most likely face the saints. And therefore didn't want to show their hand.Again, I am trying to be optimistic.

Shuswap
True enough but you will not beat the saints by scoring 16 points..
Rickey
The Falcons still had a chance to WIN the division and they didn't show up, plus we had 11 days to prepare. We don't do anything different week end and week out. Same schemes that don't work. I think Carolina will beat the Saints and we could have been a 3 seed by beating TB. I don't mind losing as long as you put up a decent effort. It's time to get a true RB with some speed and ditch Turner, and the main thing to realize is that Matt Ryan's inability to hit recievers deep will always be a hinder to the team. THE ICEMAN
The BVG defense is what kept the falcons in the first game against the saints and against the texans or how about the game aginst carolina oh yeah they also shut down the lions as well. Yea he may not always have the best game plan but if the players don't got out there and execute the game plan then thats the resuilts you get.I more worried about he offense, almost 500 yards and all you get is 16 points to the saints put 45 on the board with 20 less yards. MM is just as much at fault

Game was not as important as the one in two weeks. We have people on this board that can't think long term. I think we will win in 2 weeks and reason why because we didn't show anything to saints and basically we will bring the unexpected to them. I think it was a smart move by Smith to do this. No extra planing and he gave them 4 days off. If he thought of this game as big he would not give that much time off. This just seems like a smart move. the_sheff
Ive been hearing this "vanilla/passive" excuse since the preseason and im tired of it. You think BVG and the D has been saving their schemes for the playoffs all season long? Seriously!? We are who we are and its been on display 19 times this season. No need to try and dream up some ultra-deep rationale behind getting beat like a rented mule on national tv. The answer is simple and very straight-forward ~ against quality competition, we suck. shockerfalcon
To the op your logic is seriously flawed. The only way Smitty could be assured that we would face the saints in two weeks was if he knew we were going to lose the game or against tb. Winning out would have given us the five seed and the NFC east champ.
FalconFanForLife
Well there is no real good way to spin this loss. We got our butts outplayed in every facet of the game. But its just one game and you just have to put it behind you, and get ready for the Bucs and the playoffs.
