The Saints Prove The Importance Of A Quality O-Line

The O-line.

Often overlooked, seldom praised, most fans ignore the boredom of it during a game.

The Saints prove to the NFL world weekly how important and valuable a QUALITY O-line is.

Drew Brees has forever to find an open receiver with his "Rocks of Gibraltar" out front, all genuine Studs. With his accurate arm and 10 seconds to throw, he will be breaking records for years to come.

Will the day ever come when TD recognizes the importance of an A-1 O-line ??

O-line is the problem on offense. It's not Mularkey, it's not Ryan, it's not the WRs, it's not Turner. IT'S THE O-LINE. Most importantly the left tackle position which has been a problem all year.

The oline is a big issue for the Falcons. However if you go back and look at the game you'll see Drew Brees make some of his biggest passes when his oline failed. His pocket awareness and mobility allowed him to keep the play alive and make big plays. No one wants to admit it but we don't have that in Matt Ryan. It's not a knock on Ryan. It's just what makes Brees an elite qb and it showed last night.

Did you see the way Brees was moving around and escaping pressure all night? Dude, he makes their o-line look so much better than they actually are. If Matt Ryan was behind that line, or any other rather immobile QB, you'd see how mediocre they really are.

i think somebody said Carl Nicks is FA after this year - if so and Saints don't franchise him, Falcons should go hard for him.

Nicks is UFA after this season. But, there is NO WAY the Saints will let go of a 344-pound STUD LG who absolutely pancakes the interior of defensive lines. Especially since Drew Brees likes to move up in the pocket instead of roll out. Guards and the center are especially important to the Saints' success, more so than tackles would be. You have to pressure Drew Brees up the middle to have any chance of success. Pressure from the outside usually doesn't work.

Dream on about Nicks going anywhere else!

You don't necessarily need high round draft choices on the O-line either. Nicks was a fifth rounder, the other guard Jahri Ebvans was a fourth rounder, and the center Brian DeLaPuente was UDFA. Bushrod the LT I believe was a fifth rounder, and Zach Strief, the RT, was a seventh rounder.

By the way, Marcus Colston and Robert Meachem are both UFAs after this season also. I think they will re-sign Colston, and let Meachem walk.

I believe that Matt can develop and get MUCH better in the pocket by watching elite QBs like Brees and Rogers. just give him time..he'll be just fine...

LOL so you are saying that Matt Ryan didn't escape few sacks last night..

Also, pressure all night? Did I watch the same game you did.

I don't know. I saw Drew Brees dropping shoulders and stepping around Abraham and stepping up as the ends close in behind him. He has the ability to make your team look like they have no idea how to get to the QB. We got so many hands on him last night and he just shrugged it off. That's what he always does when we play him.

I remember total of 4-5 plays where he got away other than that His jersey looked "New" or Used - Like new

I somewhat agree, but you can't deny that the Falcons o-line doesn't need help. I think Brees behind our o-line would be a much different story. How many times last night did we see Ryan have to get rid of the ball quickly or make a decision that would have been different with an extra 2 seconds. We NEED a better o-line. In order for us to have a solid running AND passing game(not just one or the other)

yeah, there was no push or no holes for our RB to run through at all

How the phuck you let you QB touch in 3 seconds when they rush only 3? Whenever BVG rush 3.. other QB's can go to bathroom and piss, still come back and throw the ball.

That's because he plays on artificial turf. Pretty impossible to get dirty when there isn't, you know, dirt.

I agree and fully anticipate Saints tagging Nicks if they cannot come to terms on long-term deal

It's odd..............Ryan had 377yds. passing, 65.4% eff.

Brees - 307yds. - 59% eff.

Ryan is pretty d.amn good I'd say.

Best teams in the league have great OL & DL.

Svitek is a an upgrade from Baker. This isn't saying much considering he was drafted in 2006 om the 6th round by KC as a DE.KC converted him to OL but released him after 2 years. Carolina picked him up and released him later that year and we picked him up for depth. Now he's our starting LT. Not exactly a coveted OL, not to mention someone you can trust to protect our QBs blind side going up against elite DE...still he's an upgrade from Baker. . .
