I Even Bleed Red
This team has a complacent mentality. No one will get fired. No one will get replaced, unless they choose to leave for a better gig elsewhere. Everyone will high-five and add winning a playoff game as yet another accomplishment for this regime. And it'll all seem like it's part of the process. This team is has a complacent mentality. It shows. And it starts at the top with TD and Smitty. I Even Bleed Red
We criticize Roddy for talking smack on Twitter, and to be fair, most of it is well deserved, but when your star player pretty much calls out your OC in an interview, it's clear he's utterly frustrated and wants to vent, but just isn't allowed to (partly cuz he drops a lot of balls). I'm no pessimist, but I'm sure there are issues in the locker room that we are not being led on to.thats a huge ifOh, I know. vdove0926
I disagree. But after taking an *** whoopin some people stay the same, others change. If changes need to be made Smith will make them if they dont then they wont.Right now changes need to be made, I'm pretty sure if MM gets the chance he will leave for a HC job if not I think Brat was brought in for a reason. I Even Bleed Red
thats a huge ifBut I think this loss will help...we were showed that we don't belong. I don't expect that to go totally unnoticed.
Aftermath
Sad but true, I'd love a playoff win but I don't think we have a chance in **** of going all the way and if getting embarrassed in the playoffs again is what it takes for some changes to be made then lets hurry up and get it over with. Worst case scenario is we win one, get embarrassed the second week and AB decides that the Falcons did just enough to get by.

Thelonious Mingus
So you all want to tank a playoff game? You guys are unbelievable.
Guest Gritz
Very interesting thread bleed...very interesting...It's kind of the electric "third rail" of sports message board posting that many people are scared to talk about....Would you as a fan be willing to suffer an important playoff game loss if that same loss would bring changes that you thought would greatly improve the team?I understand that kind of thinking but I personally can't do it. I can't root for the Falcons to ever lose regardless of what the bigger goal might be.Even though the odds are very slim...(Karen Carpenter thin for this team ) as long as your team is still playing you have a shot at the Lombardi. I Even Bleed Red
Right now changes need to be made, I'm pretty sure if MM gets the chance he will leave for a HC job if not I think Brat was brought in for a reason.I love Smitty...I do. But his complacency with mediocrity is a problem. He is attached to his coordinators and won't replace them, unless they voluntarily leave for a better gig. Smitty isn't a step on your throat kinda guy.I don't know if I want "Brat" as our OC...then again, I don't know who I want.
Steel City Falcon
Yea if they find their way back to the Super Dome in the 1st round and get embarrassed again some one has to get fired. I can honestly see them beating the Giants or Cowboys. But like I said before if MM and BVG are still coaching this team next year I'm seriously going to question Blanks dedication to winning big. Steel City Falcon
I brought this up in a thread after the Texans loss a few weeks ago.... Is it even worth winning if it saves MM and BVG's jobs? As much as I want to see the Falcons win in the playoffs is how much I hate these coordinators. I Even Bleed Red
But how do you know Smith is complacent? I mean how many HC's fire a DC or OC after going 13 and 3? I'm just not understanding what people wanted/want him to do right now.You wanna know how I know Smith is complacent? When we're getting the sh!t beat out of us, he has a deer-in-headlights kind of look on his face. He makes almost no schematic adjustments during half time. The biggest adjustment we made was we went no huddle on offense in the second half. That is not an adjustment to the intrinsic scheme! However, that is acknowledging that MM doesn't call the best play at times, but he still won't be replaced, unless he chooses to leave. You wanna know how I know Smith is complacent? After several humiliating loses, he says the same sh!t in press conferences with the same complacent attitude. "It's an uncharacteristic mistake. It was an aberration." What he means to say is "I don't know what the h3ll went wrong, so let's just try the same thing again and hopefully next time it'll work out how it's 'supposed to'" As much as I despise Andy Reid, he knows when he is out-coached.You know how I know Smith is complacent? After GB raped us in the playoffs what adjustments did he make to his scheme? To the coordinators? Nothing! GB showed us we didn't belong. Smith just chalked it up to an "aberration", knowing daym well his scheme was exposed. What did we do to upgrade the defense? Nothing! We do the same sh!t now, hoping that it'll work this time. You wanna know how I know Smith is complacent? He basically admitted that Brees and company were going to score lots of points against his scheme, but he did nothing to change it, hoping that it would work. Hoping that we could hold them to 26 points again, knowing daym well those games were aberrations. Some one said something about the law of averages biting Brees in the butt as far as interceptions...the law of averages also bit us in the butt. We somehow managed to hold the Saints to low scores in the past...this was overdue. You know how I know Smith is complacent? I really believe that if Matty needed 30 yards to break Marino's record late in the 4th quarter, Smith would just let him do it next week, because he's worried about running up the score. He isn't a step on your throat kinda guy because he is complacent! Edited December 27, 2011 by I Even Bleed Red
