J Who?
Folks,Combining last season, preseason, and the start of this season we are squarely staring 7 straight losses in the face. Now I know I'm going to hear the typical "preseason" banter trying to discount what it is I'm saying but pause a moment and think about the start of the Mike Smith era. Mike Smith has always talked about "the process" and part of that process, especially in the beginning, was winning. I remember Mr. Smith even talking about winning in the preseason being important because of the mindset and mentality it creates. Now if we were sold the bill of goods in the first season that preseason games were important in building a "mindset" then we must follow along the same lines of thinking when evaluating our current performance. That being said, if we lose (which I really hope we don't since I don't want to see Vick fans gloat for the next year) then we will truly be in such a slump that a real evaluation of coaching needs to be done. Butudontseeme™
I'm not worried. This upcoming game is just like any other in that it could go either way. We have to make plays to win unlike what happened in Chicago. We gotta finish plays on defense (DeCoud, Spoon) and we gotta get the ball in the hands of our playmakers on offense. We definitely can win this game, it's just a matter of doing the things necessary to do so.
J Who?
I understand reality is frightening for some. Our performance needs serious evaluation...not just the fact we lost, but the way we lost is just as important.

J Who?
Worry much?So you shouldn't worry about the team you root for if they've been blown out in their last 2 games that count and the depth of your team if dramatically outclassed in preseason........you obviously sir have not coached at any level. Carl927
Nope. Never coached. Watched a lot of Falcons football, tho. This team has quite a bit of talent assembled. It'll come together.I hope soon.

Falcon Fanatic
I don't believe we see 0-7, but I can see where we could start the season 1-4 or 2-3. If that happens we'll see what happens with all the chaos on this board. The folks saying "It's only the preseason" or "It's only one game" when bad tendencies that occurred in the preseason of poor tackling, poor execution, ****** play in the secondary were all happening then and happened in the first game too. strat1080
I kind of had a feeling after the Green Bay blowout that the Falcons would struggle this season. Even Troy Aikman mentioned it during the game. A loss like that is hard to come back from. It really rocks the confidence of a team. Matt Ryan looked anything but confident against Chicago. I really thought Atlanta's best chance was to get off to a nice start and build some confidence. In Atlanta's last two games they have been thorougly dominated by last year's participants in the NFC Championship. You can't tell me that it doesn't impact the psyche of the team. This isn't a year when Atlanta can afford to start off playing mediocre football.

J Who?
Some of you guys need a history lesson. How so? I'm fully aware of the Falcons history....especially under previous ownership. That being said, the previous poor history of the Falcons shouldn't dissuade anyone from being critical of a team that is not living up to it's potential nor should it keep fans of the Falcons from expecting both a championship and an elite team that is in the upper echelon of teams perennially. I agree with you...We should be critical and based on our Falcons history, so that history does not repeat.
