What Do The Philly Fans Think About Sunday's Game?

Vick threw 32 times against the Rams and only had 187 yards. The Rams defense also sacked vick 3 times and had 11 QB hits. The Rams threw 36 times and that "All-Madden" secondary of the Eagles didn't have any INT's.

I didn't watch the game, but the stats do not look impressive for a Dream Team type defense. The only two things that worry me about the Eagles are: McCoy and Vick running. Vick throwing isn't that scary and the Falcons have a TON of tape on him. If Atlanta can get pressure on Vick early, and lay a monster hit on him, I think the Falcons win this one. Let's hope Vick finds some old friends when he lands in Atlanta, and lets hope those old friends have a nice new 6 foot bong.

The front four was great for the Birds, they didn't blitz and got tremendous pressure on Bradford. That being said you can run on them, but if your put into 2nd and long/3rd and long situations then the Falcons won't be very successful. And you should be afraid of Vick throwing the ball because of who is weapons are. Jackson, Maclin, Avant, and Smith will have favorable matchups during this game, not to mention the best pass catching running back from last year in Shady McCoy. The Falcons need to blitz Vick, if you let him sit in the pocket and make him beat you with his arm..he will, it's crucial for the ends not to get too deep either or he won't hesitate to step up and make the lb choose between him or a dump off to McCoy.

Honestly, I don't care if Vick puts on the greatest show of all-time for his fans and all the highlight enthusiast...He can rush AND throw for 300 yards each, if he wishes.

ALL I care about is that we end up with MORE POINTS than them at the end of the game on Sunday Night...Period!!

I can guarantee ONE thing...DeSean Jackson will think TWICE before coming across the middle at full speed again. Can you say Dante Robinson??? I'm SURE he remembers....or....maybe not! :D

Touche, Jackson really got his head blown off on that play, luckily Kolb won't be throwing lob passes to get his head blown off..and hopefully Vick won't either.

At least with Vick coming we will be able to see The Greatest Show on Turf 2 in the GA dome, then Vick goes back to Philly! At least he will see a sea of 7 jerseys and know he always has a second home in The GA Dome!

Agreed, The o-line better step up. Baker vs Cole and Reynolds vs Jenkins are the two battles in the trenches that will decide what type of success the Falcons offense will have.

The thing about the eagles defensive line is that they rotate a lot, and it gives teams troubles with so many different looks and fresh legs. Darrly Tapp is really thriving in the wide nine scheme and Juqua Parker (former starter) comes in and has an immediate impact too. Same with the defensive tackles, Laws and Dixon rotate a lot behind Patterson and Jenkins, Dixon is are better run stopper so you should hear his name plenty this week. The Falcons need to establish the run and use playaction with short crossing routes and passes to the tightend. You can run on these Eagles linebackers until they prove they can handle it.

@back4the1sttime - The Bears offense scored 30 points on us with mediocre play from their offense. Their defense played outstanding and Matt Ryan compounded it by being out of his game. I don't see the same defense from the Eagles. They are very weak up the middle. Past Patterson and Jenkins, the LBs and Safeties are the weak spot of that defense. I think Hawley and Reynolds will be ready this game after a real welcome to the NFL from Melton and Okoye. They struggled with who to block. The thing they need to focus on is staying a unit as the front 3 until it is totally clear to help the tackles. Reynolds struggles with this having converted from OT to OG.

I think Grimes is going to have a big game. Vick likes to try and stick things in to very small windows. If our safeties stay over top, Grimes will have some opportunities. Just look at the Rams highlights. Vick threw some dumb passes that the Rams couldn't capitalize on. We know Grimes will make you pay.

Great point, Vick does throw some pretty tight coverage passes but with his riffle, he is one of the few that can get it in those tight spaces. I think the only other QB that does it better is Rodgers. However Grimes is only one man and while I assume he will be on Jackson, he still has McCoy, Avant, and Smith to throw to, and Grimes can't cover all of them. But I know Grimes will be good to take away at least one of his option. While I agree the Eagles defense is not the Bears I will say they are not far off. Their only real weakness is the linebacker so I expect to see a lot of running this game if we don't fall behind. It's going to be a great test for both teams though.

Actually, the Bears offense scored 23 points on us. Their defense scored one TD.

That's the thing, Jackson can be beneficial to the Eagles offense without catching one pass but just by stretching out the defense and allowing Avant/Maclin/Smith/Celek to work across the middle. It's hard to play DeSean, you can try to play press coverage but one quick step and he's by you and your not catching him; give him too much space and he'll run stick routes all day. The best defense to stop the Eagles imo, is to play press coverage with two deep safeties, and I mean REALLY deep. Blitz your outside linebackers off the edge and force Vick to roll right.

I'm not about to make any excuses for Vick, I'm a Falcons fan. He's not our quarterback, I don't care what he's doing these days. But I did hear on ESPN earlier today that he drank an energy drink before the game last week and I have to say, I made the mistake of doing that one time before playing football and it REALLY throws you off. You feel great at first, but then after a minute you feel jittery and lose focus. He said he'll never do that again and neither did I. It's not something that completely shuts you down, but it DOES affect your game. Add to that it was the first game of the season where a lot of guys are out of sync and this upcoming game against Vick has me pretty concerned.

Vicks running ability is scary, and when I look at what Rodgers did to Atlanta last year, it makes me worry. I saw the middle of the field open a TON on Sunday, and if Vick see's that....he's gone. I just hope the defense is ready and I hope Atlanta doesn't let Philly get off to a fast start again.

Vicks line would have looked a lot better for not Jackson's two drops as well, he threw a beautiful deep ball to DeSean which he just flat out dropped and the other in the back of the endzone which would have been a tough catch but it probably should have been made. Vick wasn't perfect last week, but he progressed a lot as the game went on..Vick+ the weapons he has around him are always going to be dangerous, there's a lot of speed on the field; not to mention theyir playing on turf which obviously has its upside as far as a speed factor.

Here are a few posts from Philly fans:

http://boards.philad...e-atlanta-game/

"I hope they are pissed off, that sorry D is about to get pissed on this week. I must say I am excited to see what we can do against Turner, Julio and White, though. Our D has an opportunity to impress this week with 3 legit offensive weapons to face (assuming Julio Jones is actually legit). Lets hope they come through. "

"Atlanta was 8-0 at home last year I believe. That said the DLine got a ton of pressure last week only rushing four. Hopefuly that'll be a luxury we have all year. I think Ryan's going to be in the same trouble he was vs. Chicago. Birds big same as last year. 31-17. "

"I think the Falcons will definitely come harder in this game than they did week 1.

That being said, I dont have a great deal of respect for their secondary, the offensive line, or Matty Ice against our D.

They will have to be PERFECT with Gonzalez, White, Jones, and Turner to beat the Eagles, and Vick and Reid have to be totally outplayed and coached respectively. Not saying Atlanta isnt capable, but if they couldnt do it the past couple of years, it definitely doesnt look good this year.

Eagles by 10, only because they are mad and will make it tough LOL."

My early prediction would be 27-17 Eagles. The Falcons are going to play hard, because 0-2 would lead to some serious questions. However, I think the Falcons are a very overrated team. I think the Eagles are just more talented and even with a good effort I expect the Eagles to make more plays.

BINGO!!!

ATL is clearly not as good as advertised and motivated from a beat down or not they aren't on our level.

Seeing how Cam played yesterday I wouldn't be surprised if ATL ends up in the basement of that division

All that said

Eagles - Too Much (34)

Falcons - Not Enough (16)

To say I'm JACKED UP, for this game would be a MAJOR understatement...We owe those overconfident pricks a PREMIUM can of "WHOOP A$$"!!

Sound off Fellow Falcons Fans....

I don't think they were over the top at all with their comments. I also feel like they were pretty accurate with a 10 point win. It will take an incredible effort by the Falcons to just lose by 10 points. A loss by less than 10 right now would have to be considered a moral victory.

I actually think Robinson is on the down side. And that hit hurt Robinson just as much as it hurt Jackson, they were both out the game.

Funny how you pick and choose, of course there are going to be over confident cocky fans...lets see some others from the other side of the spectrum

Can't judge Jones, young kid practiced on turf then played his first game on grass, but he looked like one of those guys who'll never play up to his measurables, he plays more like a big 4.50 WR who doesn't have Bryant's type of body control, more a physical slant runner, like you say, a solid #2 in a year or so once he learns what he's doing.

Problem is I think White and Gonzo have slipped considerably, and Jones isn't going to provide a lot more than Jenkins as a rookie. And Turner has had two physically punishing seasons out of the last three (averaging 20+ carries), with his style of running that has to wear him down. Plus losing Dahl hurts a solid run blocking unit while they were never good pass blockers. Baker and Clabo are mediocre as pass blocking OTs, they depended on play action to keep the pressure off Ryan.

They just seem to match up better against physical teams that don't have explosive offenses. ''

This is going to be a tough game to win. If Cadilac Williams went for 90 yards I wonder what Turner will get. Should be a close game. Atlanta is a good home team also and also desperate for win. We're on the road for back to back weeks and the whole Vick thing going on in Atlanta. I feel like the football Gods will be on the Falcons side. Hope I'm wrong though

Falcons 31

Eagles 21 ''

Last week it was Jackson.

This week it's Turner. The guy is a good runner inside, so something must be done to stop that.

Eagles Win 44-27

I am really looking forward to see how are CB's matchup with Roddy White and Julio Jones.

Big WR's and Power RB.

But what scares me is the old dude, Tony Gonzales. I have a feeling he will keep the chains moving for the Falcons.

eagles win(biased eagles fan duh)

but the holes on defense concern me. im sure the falcons will be able to exploit us and then we need get serious about making some trade moves.

Eagles 31-28 Close game. Why, we have Mike Vick and its Atlanta. He will showcase...

unfortunaltey its gonna be tough because the falcons should be pissed after this las week... i hope we can handle it

it depends who gets the early lead!

if the Falcons get the early lead, Turner will drag our LBs all day and will dominate the clock

As much as it pains me to say this, I think Sunday's game will go to the Falcons. Coming off that embarrassing lost this past Sunday will make them beyond hungry for a win this week. Not to mention that Vick is returning "home" and the Falcons are a pretty good home team and want to welcome him back with a W. I just PRAY TO GOD that NO ONE IS INJURED...NO ONE!!!

The only thing that matters is the final score.

Well yeah, but if the Eagles get an early lead the games dynamics will vastly change. They'll be able to pin their ears back (which they do best) and go after the quarterback with samuel and aso sitting back in coverage. It really does make a huge difference for this team to get an early lead, that's what their built on. quick scores, and bring pressure to the qb.

Of course we're confident. It's like a game against the weasels over in New York. We always win, no offense. You could win. Atlanta has a talented bunch. Should be a fun game. Edited by PhillyMV7

another eagles fan quote below...you guys totally disregarded my other quotes..if you want to act like the eagles fan base shouldn't be confident then in that sense you shouldn't be as well. For every eagles fan thinking this will be a cake walk there's another who thinks it's a toss up, but if you guys want to be fans with a chip on your shoulder? then cool

''I think the Eagles are the better team and I think Atlanta is somewhat overrated. That said, I don't have a great feeling about this game. Atlanta is going to be desperate to avoid 0-2. This could be a huge opportunity for the Eagles as a win would essentially put them 3 games ahead of Atlanta (by virtue if owning the head to head tiebreaker). That said this seems like the classic type of game the Eagles drop. I hope I'm wrong but my feeling is a 27-21 loss. ''

All it takes is one player for the media to eat it up.

Of course, but it's not like the Eagles players are strutting around thinking they're top dawgs. Last time I checked the 'dream team' was full of players who had championships, sure the Eagles have players here and there with rings but none wearing a wing on their helmet. The media aka 'ESPN' will dog them when they lose and pick apart their wins..there are no bad wins in the NFL, it's hard to win in the NFL and I think the Birds have a realistic shot to be in the mix late in the season.
