People Need To Relax...a Lot

Falcons Win

Recommended Posts

Look, I know you don't want to hear it's 1 game, but that's the truth it's 1 of 16, did it look bad, at the surface absolutely but look deeper at what was going on out there.

We played week 1 on the road on a field that the NFL should come in and say is unfit for play and force them to play their home games on the road until it's replaced, and we lost by 18 points.

EIGHTEEN POINTS!!! Holy crap, what a devastating loss! Then you look into it and you see what happened. Matt Ryan played the game any heady QB would have played the game. He was hitting his sure things trying to keep the chains moving against a Cover 2 that forces that sort of thing. Then they took advantage of his mistake. Urlacher made one of the best plays of his Hall of Fame Career Sunday on that insane interception that many WRs and TEs couldn't have made. So that's mistake 1, we're down but we're fighting back and cruising the ball down field and bam, derailed.

Okay well, it had to have been more than that going wrong for a team to get blown out that badly, well, next thing you know Michael Turner is breaking off some decent runs, and on a pretty good one he gets hit perfectly and coughs up the ball, it lands at his feet, and Chicago wraps it up. Dang, now the team is deflated and the defense is feeling really really good about itself. This snowballs, well Matt Ice goes out there and leads the team into position for 1 final toss into the endzone from about the 50 yardline, and guess what, the refs decide they don't want to give him a chance with the ball. So at this point the game still hasn't played 60 mins, we're at 59:58 in terms of total time. Pretty crappy.

But look further into it, then Matt Ryan fumbles the ball after getting rushed out of the pocket on a really nice move, but he forgot the ball on the turf, which ended up being bumbled around by Peppers (who was credited for a sack and FF on the play *scratches head*) and then ran into the endzone by Urlacher. Just another absolutely fluky play. Those turnovers allowed the Bears to score 17 points, which would have made this a much much different game. How about stack on top of that the fact that our Pro Bowl return man looked like Allen Rossum back there, costing us countless yards in field position and making horrible decisions. Stack on top of that our defense forced 3 turnovers, only 1 of which we didn't screw up. It's sad when your defensive end has better hands than your Safety.

That would have been a total of 3 turnovers forced by our defense and put us easily in the drivers seat in that game. Instead we're forced to pass block with 2 new offensive linemen, first time starters, and the Bears are allowed to play ragdoll with Matt Ryan, including hitting him in the head twice and getting away with it. All the rules about defenseless players went out the window, and even false starts against the Bears weren't called. I mean it's not 1 thing that cost us the game, so you don't blame the refs, you just fire them and move on cause they were horrible. But it's 1 more thing piled on the snowball of everything going wrong.

Our defense early was very impressive holding the Bears to field goals and forcing them to not do what they wanted. They couldn't run the ball on us, period, and in a game that doesn't have every ball, every call, and every thing go against us (much like the Green Bay game) we'd have housed the Bears.

So we're 0-1 instead of 1-0, oh well. We've got a game with the Eagles this week, which before the season started we all put down as a big fat L, and ya know what, we may be right. But even at 0-2 doesn't mean the season is over, and I don't care about the 9.8% of teams making the playoffs after starting 0-2 since 2000, we weren't supposed to turn around this franchise for half a decade, and it happened in 5 months, so even if we do start 0-2, it doesn't mean this isn't a 11-12 win team. Some games suck and you get hosed, some games you get beat. Sunday was mostly the former which turned into the latter. Don't freak out guys, hang in there and in a few weeks you'll all be like, oh I guess I was wrong.

290 days, that's a baseball stat, cause you're throwing out wins in order to make it look worse, horrible fake stat you've created there, and truth is this team hasn't won a game for 4 days. That's the truth, because that's when this season started. We've started out 6-2 and missed having a winning record, who's to say we can't start 0-2 and end up with a 12 win season? No one, this story isn't written yet. Just wait, you'll see what happens when the Falcons spread their wings.

Matt Ryan completed 2 passes or more to SEVEN different targets on Sunday, you know how much of a nightmare that is for opposing Defensive Coordinators to deal with? You think the Eagles are looking at that tape and seeing, sheesh these Falcons are a joke? Absolutely not, they're seeing a team that just had a couple bad plays out there, and an offensive line that became overwhelmed because our offense became totally imbalanced. Turner is at 10.0 YPC, and if he does even half of that this Sunday in the Dome, Eagles better look out. He's got 2 explosive plays, Julio has 2 explosive plays, and TG has an explosive play. So you want them, we're going to get them. Just watch when we're against man coverage this week, and watch what Matt Ryan does if he's given time, and watch our big playmakers come out.

We may not win this week, but you'll see a different team out there Sunday, and you'll see this team grow into something fantastic by the end of the season. Remind me, how well did last year's Green Bay Packers start off, they didn't even win their freaking division. You guys will see.

They also never lost any game by more than 4 points.

Excuses.

The last 2 performances by the Falcons have been abysmal. You or anyone else can try and spin it any way you want. The games speak for themselves.

You are like the little farm kid on Christmas morning out behind his house digging through a pile of horseshlt. His dad comes out there and asks "Son, what in the world are you doing?"

The kid replies "I know there's a pony in here somewhere."

Keep digging for that pony brother.

You can be a debbie downer all you want, but what I stated was truth. Cry more dude. Seriously, cry more.

You're overly sensational here, as are most. You're trying to judge us on a tiny sample of games, NFL doesn't work like that.

One more thing.

Don't compare the Falcons to last year's GB team. It's not valid in any way.

The Packers lost their starting ILB, RB, SS, RT, TE, and NB and whole bunch of other players last year, yet they were in every game they played. Their 6 losses were by a total of 20 points.

And they went and won the Super Bowl, without all those guys.

What kind of state would this team be in if it lost Lofton, Turner, Moore, Clabo, Gonzalez, and well...never mine on that last one. I can't imagine the Falcons in that state would be too awfully competitive.

I don't know where these excuses are coming from man. I understand fan loyalty but sometimes ridiculous is just ridiculous.

All you stated was your perception of the truth....and then threw in a couple of insults to try and back it up....Nice.

Nowhere have I said that the Falcons weren't a good team....nor that they were incapable of righting the ship.

I do what I suspect the players and coaches of the Falcons do. I look at their production on the field the last 2 games and deem it unacceptable.

Do you think Coach Smith rattles off all of the bullshlt excuses you had in your initial post to the players after games like the Green Bay and Chicago ones? No, they pour over the film, get chewed out and try and make corrections. That's how the NFL works.

The way you think it works? Not even close.....I'm giving a realistic appraisal of what I see.

You....you're Donna Delusional.

People like you guys are why everyone thinks Atlanta fans are a joke. Team plays poorly in game ONE of this season and you're freaking out.

Pitiful, absolutely pitiful.

Bookmark this post and call it back up at the end of the year when we're Division Champs at 11-5 heading into the playoffs as the #2 seed in the NFC.

Whatever....we all want the Falcons to win or we wouldn't be on here. I've yet to see any reputable poster predict death, gloom and destruction for the 2011 falcons.

Some of us see problems that need addressing.

You see lollipops and rainbows.

You sir, are the queen of Delusional.

Seriously dude, step away from the freaking ledge, I'm not a coach, and I'm not a player, guess what NEITHER are you. You are a fan, can you look at things and say oh hey I think they can do that better, absolutely. But what you say carries no more weight than what I do. So you can attack positive people all you want, but it doesn't make your life any better, nor does it make you any more right.

What I said was true, and you can try to spin it any way you want to. But do you think Coach Smith is in there spouting all the bs negativity at his players you are posting? Absolutely not, I can assure you of that. I never said we played well Sunday, I said look at all the crap that went wrong and the Bears, NFC North Champs, only beat us by 18 points in what was a poor performance by the Falcons. So, you go ahead and rant and rave, I'll be rational and look at things instead of freaking out all over 1 game.

False, I see the truth. I see what could have been and I do see the problems, but I choose to not preach doom and gloom like you. I choose to see, wow guys, we played horrible out there, but ya know what, we can get em, if we don't beat ourselves out there we'd have won that game. So get your butts in shape this week and play good clean FALCON football, and we WILL win the game.

P.S.

I never knew Eeyore was a poster here.

Geez, you can't even see how funny and sad of a comment that is.

Last 2 games that counted for the Falcons.....beaten by a score of 78-33.

If that's good enough for you then God bless you sir.

Some of us believe that this team is capable of more.

Dude, what do you expect? I mean, you are cracking me up.

"YAY, we got EMBARRASSED again. SUPER DUPER. THAT'S OK, WE'LL DO BETTER NEXT TIME AND IT'LL BE THE BEST DAY EVERRRRR!!"

There isn't any team in the league whose fans would respond to back to back b*tch slappings any differently than we are.

I bet the Steelers are getting killed on their board, and they were just in the Super Bowl.

People are going to "eat crow" for saying that the Falcons stunk against the Packers and the Bears?

How exactly is that going to embarrass anyone?

How does that work?

Your post is chock full of lame excuses man. You are one of the few here creating these cupcake, flower, and ice cream threads. No one here would be here if they did not care or was not loyal to the team. The fact that we are disappointed and trying to come to terms with that game is our coping strategy we share in common with other fans here. It is not the fact that we are negative nancies (no one is bashing the team except the apparent trolls). We are only calling it like we understand it.

I swear I just don't get the mindset of some people on here.

Except for the obvious trolls I assume that everyone on here would love to see the Falcons play like their hair is on fire week in and week out.

When it doesn't happen their official message board seems like a logical place to come talk about what happened and get the takes and camaraderie of fellow Falcon fans....

I guess to some people if you have the stones to say even the slightest critical thing about the team or organization it's like slapping their mom in her piehole.

:rolleyes::lol:
