Guest Gritz
First of all-the disclaimer-I'M NOT TRYING TO START ANYTHING AT ALL WITH THIS THREAD:This question is mainly directed at those of you who have been out to Training Camps of the Falcons the last few years....because I haven't really seen enough of Redman in live, real games to know the answer.Do Ryan and Redman have similar arm strength? Ryan stronger? Redman?I'm just curious.
Ghost Rider
Good question and I'm not really sure. Redman maybe by just a tad. I think Redman might have a better deep ball.
Ghost Rider
Then again, I've always liked Redman a lot and felt that way before we even drafted Ryan.
B_Lo_Touchdowns
I'm not really sure I go to training camp a lot a Redman has a nice deep ball but I never really seen him hang it up there. I've seen Ryan go deep before but I would give Redman a 5 yard advantage. We will never know with MM calling plays
falconmaniac
Redman BUT.............. He is not the "leader" of a football team.Matt Ryan is.
Finally
So you are asking if one noodle is al dente and the other is cooked through? :P
FalconFanSince1970
Red is slightly stronger.
SomeOtherGuy
I've always liked Redman and believe that his deep balls have more zip and accuracy than Ryan's. However, Ryan did exceed my expectations in years one and two. Here's what really bothers me: During the preseason and in last Sunday's game, it appeared that both Ryan and Redman had lost their swagger. I have nothing to base this on, but I believe there is a dynamic going on between the coaching staff and the quarterbacks that is sucking the life out of them. It's almost like the coaches (Mularky?) is afraid to let them do what they do best. And, that groupthink now has got them second-guessing themselves and too ready to check down so they don't get yelled at. It's like this timid little strategy where any pass that covers more than 20-25 yards in the air is just too scary to try more than once or twice per quarter.Maybe I'm way off base, but that sure is what it feels like to me. Guest Gritz
Thanks everyone for the responses...I thought that it might be Redman by a little bit but I wasn't sure.
Knight of God
Redman has more zip. I'm not a fan of his though. Less so than Ryan.
#1 pick
Redman has a lot more velocity but their arm is both the same. Ryan is just a much better player. You will never see him have a passer rating of 0.
FalconsFeast
I personally think redman has the stronger arm. I remember the games he played last season when Ryan was out with the turf toe injury and he had some zip on his throws.

dmite
Redman doesn't have the accuracy and quick release that Matt has. I don't think Redman reads defenses and blitzes as well either.
Super Mario
Redman doesn't have the accuracy and quick release that Matt has. I don't think Redman reads defenses and blitzes as well either.Ryan doesn't really have to read the defense. All he has to do is check the ball down or throw it into the ground. swift
Redman has slightly better arm ..and he is a better fit for this offense to be honest ..Redman isnt scared to throw ball down field..Problem with Redman is he doesnt process information as quick as Ryan ...but take good with bad ..He wont check down as much ..
