Add this one to the bad list. That first pass to Roy Williams he was split out left, Hester comes in motion left. Abe drops back while Owens runs in. TE, Williams, and Hester all run their routes left side. DeCoud picks up the short out route. The other two blow by Abe and leaves two WR's for Dunta to cover.

I'm not defending Dunta but people really need to see more than just the end result. I know they are dropping Abe in coverage to blitz someone else but Abe needs to do a better job of covering and this isn't the first time.

on Urlacher int, j.jones was wide open coming across.............

Haven't re-watched the game so I could be wrong, but I remember it being Tony G that Ryan was throwing to.

You're right though, the receiver was wide open and I don't blame Ryan at all for throwing it. He just didn't expect Urlacher to have that leaping ability and didn't throw it high and outside enough. Should have lead the receiver rather than throw it right to him. Still, I probably would have made the same decision since he was wide open and Urlacher was behind the route.

All in all excellent play by Urlacher, not horrible by Ryan like some of his ugly picks from '09.

More bad-Forte 23 yd pick up. Nich and Lofton were sent in after Cutler. Everybody else back in coverage with Owens playing nickel. Because no one was left to guard against the screen there was 20 yards between the line of scrimmage and all the secondary covering receivers deep.

Well people want BVG to blitz more. There you go. That was a BVG faux pas.

if you and your receiver are both running in the same direction parallel to each other like ryan and gonzo were, you DO throw it at them because the ball will take a natural arc and end up leading him.

on Urlacher int, j.jones was wide open coming across.............

Jones hit a post route about 15 yds deep and was covered tight when Ryan released the ball. Ryan rolled right which broadcasts his targets since it's not smart to throw across the shoulder back left. He was targeting Gonzo which he would have had except for the fact he was throwing while running so the touch is diminished but the biggest problem is he rushed his throw to Gonzo when 30 came up faster than he wanted. Obviously he should have thrown that one away especially on 2nd and 2.

What people dont understand is if you want us to be more aggressive then there is a trade off./

Plays like screens ad draws are designed to specifically counter aggressive defenses.

If you complain about us being aggressive dont complain about giving up those plays when we are.

I honestly believe there are people who don't realize when you blitz it means you take guys out of coverage or to protect the middle. Either way that was a bad call on BVG because if you are already an OLB down because the nickel is in coverage then don't send the two remaining LB's cause there ain't nobody for 20 yards anywhere in that very large rectangle covering the dump down.

But I have wondered why, when we show all out blitz with the LBs, do they not fully check out of it when the QB goes max protect? If the QB takes players out of their routes to pass block, then there is essentially less people to guard. Yet, Lofton stays in the blitz, gets picked up, and VIOLA! First Down!

Yall boys are wrong about the Urlacher pick play.

It was a typical play action roll right play. Ryan got pressure from the NB on a blitz, panicked and threw it toward TonyG on what would have had to be a perfect pass for a freakin seven yard gain. He should have thrown it away. Even he said that yesterday.

They scored a TD on that turnover. Inexcusible on Ryan's part.

What is this Julio was wide open bush it. He was lined up left and nowhere near being in the play which was a roll right.

Yall boys aint really watchin the tapes. Trust me.

Bro I had a hard time scoring that play. I believe that's probably the one Smitty said they had a miscommunication problem on. I'm not sure if it should go to Dunta, Nic or Abe. That was a miscommunication from hail right there. There was at least one more where a WR was sitting down in a zone wide as open..

Like I said you got 2 WR left and the TE left tight. DeCoud came up and got the short out. When Owens went in and Abe back pedaled clearly he was in coverage but he didn't get either one so he released the WR and a TE to Dunta.

The INT by Urlacher was a terrible decision by Ryan. Not only was Urlacher there the whole time but the safety would have destroyed Tony G. Rollouts only have certain routes and Urlacher knew that.

Bingo. Throw the dam ball away and deal with the message boarders that don't like that play.

Much better than putting our defense back on the field for another touchdown.

Good post. Thanks for taking the time to write it up. I've watched the game a couple of times now and your assessment is spot on.
