Looked like a lack of effort

OK...so we started 2 new OL in the game against arguably one of the tougher D lines we will face all season.

I hate the phrase "tip your hat to them"...so I'm not going to do that. So its difficult to say that Reynolds and Hauley lacked effort. Unfortunately...they could just be a big bust for us.

Otherwise...what I saw yesterday just looked like a lack of effort. I would like Smith to evoke a "leave your ego at door" type of policy. Weems...Decoud...Weatherspoon...and our veteran o lineman looked like nothing more than an extension of last years playoff game nightmare.

As a long time Falcons fan...I still want to believe in this team. I sincerely hope that Smith is not going to accept this C R A P. The oline and our secondary needs to consist of the best players and if you are not giving 100%...you dont start. Given what I saw...based on effort...Biermann should start...while Edwards...Weems...Weatherspoon...Decoud should not.

And the OL starting spots...the actual motor of the entire team...should be up for grabs as well. If the OL does not play well...the entire team will shut down. Our offense is not geared to be successful by trying to side step a weak OL. We simply dont have the type of offensive personnel to do that. We are not that type of a finess team. The OL must play well for the Falcons to do well.

I understand its just a 53 man roster and they all have to play. But dont award staring spots for players who dont appear to care enough. No way is Chicago 18 points better...not even close.

Weatherspoon did not have that bad a game... yes, he should have wrapped up on Forte on the TD run, but that seems to be the only thing people remember about him... he had 9 tackles and i seem to remember a couple of those being for loss.

also, he was pretty close to an interception.

i do think that Decoud will lose his starter position as soon as Sanders is comfortable with the playbook. you can't drop two interceptions like that.

I agree. #56 had a very solid game, one glaring play aside.

Yep, but as my grandpappy used to say " one Aww Sh##, erases ten attaboys". <_<

Your grandpappy dropped a nugget of wisdom on you there.

That whiff on Forte by Spoon was absolutely bush league. How long has Spoon been playing organized football at this point? 10 years maybe? Probably heard about or learned how to tackle the first month.

Totally and completely unacceptable.

Yeah. We had problems everywhere yesterday.

We couldn't block anybody... Guys looked completely lost in coverage (not the first time)... etc...

What is REALLY starting to concern me is the COMPLETE lack of fundamentals from the defense... There's overpersuing on a blitz and missing your target... Not being able to tackle properly... Etc.

When we play other teams it looks like they know how to tackle and we don't. Ugh...
