CDuB2009
Sure, we lost, but there was some good to take from this game. The biggest positive from this game was how great Grimes is in coverage. I'm not sure, I can't say for sure, but I don't remember a pass being completed in his zone or to his man. He made a couple of great pass deflections, both of them DeCoud should have had interceptions but that's beside the point. Sanders might challenge him for that position very soon. Grimes might be a little better than even we give him credit for.Chris Owens was terrible...but we have Kelvin Hayden waiting in the wings who will obviously be a big upgrade to the secondary. Wont be hard to improve from Owens' play. It seemed like every time we got the Bears into a 3rd and long they found where Owens was and threw at him.Offensively it's kinda hard to be optimistic. Which is weird because I don't think anyone expected we would struggle on offense. Ryan didn't do too bad, but I think he checked down way to much. I can recall one play specifically where he dumped off and they showed an angle on the play where you can see Tony Gonzalez in a window, and the ball should be there right then. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt though because Chicago likes to play a soft shell so it's tough to find openings deep.Turner, though, even though we didn't get him the ball a whole lot looked GREAT! When I say great, I mean better than ever. 100 yards on 10 carries, obviously we didn't run a lot because we got down. It's a shame we didn't run more earlier in the game, but that's on Mularkey and I don't expect to be a fan of his anytime soon. Back to the point, Turner ran well, but he also CAUGHT PASSES! 6 receptions for 60 or so yards! That could be huge for us if he could continue to do that.I'm not going to lie and say I feel super confident after that game, I worry about our coaching a lot. Not a big fan of Mularkey or BVG but at least BVG talks about playing more aggresively. I'd really like to see some third down blitzes and some more man coverage. Press coverage even, Dunta didn't look great but he would thrive in man to man press coverage. I know BVG's talked about this but I really want to see it show itself on Sunday's. It's cool to talk about calling a more aggressive defense, it's another to finally do it.

CDuB2009
I just have a hard time believing we're going to suddenly be a team who turns the ball over as often as we did today. While there were other mistakes, it's unrealistic to expect us to roll out week one and run everything perfectly. The turnovers are really what killed us. Turner's fumble hurt a lot, Ryan's obviously hurt a lot, and the pick he threw to Urlacher was really arguably the most costly. Inside the 30 and he throws a pass that almost looks like it's intended for Brian. On a regular day he either finds someone else or throws that ball away. CDuB2009
Julio had some nice playsJulio looked nice. I'm sitting here watching Dez and wishing we had him, then I remember we have Julio. He's going to be a nice player, in his first game had a game that would have been considered a great game from Jenkins. Obviously we want to see more than just better than Jenkins from him, but he's going to be a baller for years to come.

dirty bird 025
lets also give ryan some credit for being able to take hard hits all day and keep playing the game. he is really made of steel, especially on the play where ryan got helmet to helmet on both sides. Trouble
Not a whole lot of positives but it was good to see Turner catching some passes.I dont wanna rain on the parade. Im trying to be as positive as anyone. But Turner had it easy. The D rushed 4 and those 4 where after Ryan. Leaving the rest in coverage. That helped Turner Look better because they where as shocked as the fans to see us still trying to run.I Like seeing turner do some catching. But he is a bowling ball. He is slow getting going. No where as good as norwood at doing it. Even snelling gets going faster. turner is a tank. Blast right into them and run someone over type of back.I think the best thing we had was the D line got some pressure. Abe was a beast like always. Over all 2 new oline and 1 rookie starting wr... + no offseason. yeah its about what you expect. We also went up against 1 of the best d`s. No excuse just the truth. Plenty of blame today and plenty of stuff to work on. Just like last year. The more time the new oline people get, the better depth we will have and that will pay off down the line. Coaches got some work to do though on that play book. We cant just let 4 get constant pressure and not have any pass plays to bring the secondary up to the line. Cant go deep when the Lb`s and secondary is playing way back.

I think not having McClure really hurt as he is the leader of our offensive line. Hopefully he'll be 100% against Philly.Grimes and Abe were excellent today. I want to say Spoon looked really good today too, but that missed tackle hurt. Hopefully he learns from that mishap.

They are a great team... they got to perform like one... not just attempt plays they got to complete plays.. they got to get that 3rd down yardage... they got to get past the red zone and they got to keep the QB from getting the crap knocked out of him because we are only 2 QB's deep this year.Next 4 games they are not going to be talking nice... they are going to hand us our heads if we don't man up.just a nice observation. In no way is the way we played today acceptable, I've re-run all the mistakes through my head a hundred times since the end of that game. I'm just trying to get some balance here. Julio did look nice, 71 yards in his first game against a very good defense. Just because we lost doesn't mean everything was terrible. I almost forgot Sid came soo close to a safety and really laid a hit on Cutler. And lets not forget how great Biermann is at returning INT's for 6 hahaha. If he continues to do that we will have great depth at DE.Ryan threw for 300 and Turner ran for 100. I woulda liked to see Turner head for a corner to get an angle on the DB to fight off the tackle, instead he ran straight.Weatherspoon looks like he will be a playmaker in this defense when he learns to secure tackles and not try to look good.Decoud was in good position to make a couple plays but hopefully he actually makes them next week. Grimes may not have the speed Jackson does, but who does honestly? Grimes knows how to blanket receivers and I'd be fine with him man up on Jackson all game. Although I don't expect BVG to do this. He's going to be good in the passing game. The front 7 looked good and run defense was solid. They didn't give up 100 (88 yards 3.3 avg) , and didn't give up any rushing TD's.Turner averaged 10 yards per carry....Julio made some nice catches.Matt took a beating and fought to the end, unlike previous quarterbacks here in Atlanta. By the way, he managed to throw for over 300 yards ON A BAD DAY.Devin Hester didn't have any big runs on special teams. The linebackers gave up 90 yards passing and 2 TD's. The secondary gave up 212 yards and 0 TD's. Secondary did a pretty good job today.Matt had at least two receptions by 7 different receivers. The thing is, Jackson doesn't get a lot of balls thrown his way, but when he does, Grimes has to be ready. Not going for the pick, unless it's thrown right at him, but just keeping jackson from turning it up field and taking it to the house. Because once Jackson breaks, its over.
