Final score: 30 to 12 Bears.

What happened: We beat ourselves.

That is a good football team in Chicago we took ourselves out of the game. Turner finished with 10 carries for 100 yards against a stout Bears D, it was easily a result of the threats we had on the outside. Matt at one point was 14 of 15. We did a lot of good things and I saw a lot of good things but any team that turns the ball over 3 times will have a tough time winning.

As for the defense I thought we played ok, but when there is an opportunity to pull down two picks, we have to have them. We played the run well but it was easy to see that this D was tired. The Bears had the ball 6 more minutes then we did and on back to back drives we turned the ball over and our D was out there to much, I thought that they did a great job to keep it to 16 points in the first half.

As we saw today we can run the ball, and when the D cant pin their ears back we can throw and do it with ease.

I know people dont like the fact that we didnt take any shots deep but the Bears wouldnt let us and while the game was still manageable we ran the ball extremely well. This team will evolve into what we expect it to be but just like any other team in the NFL, you cant turn the ball over 3 times.

We lost 30 to 12 but if we dont turn the ball over that game would be in the range as it was played, which imo would have been in the 15 to 20 point range with either team winning.

But please understand it is game one, and while we have a lot to work on, turnovers are something we can control and can fix.

Ive been a fan for a very long time and trust me, I can take a loss...But its the way they lost the game today that has alot of people steamed. Its all about being a fan...a Falcons fan!

I mean I know the score looked bad but I wonder what people honeslty thought was about to happen when we got down by 17. Sure I had hopes of a comeback but the fact was that the Bears were about to have a chance to go ape **** on matt and thats exactly what they did.

But I would have thought some people would have thought about how we actually lost the game. We didnt play well but the L was a direct result in things we can fix.

I tried earlier pointing out the real problems.... the coordinators can't sustain a block, nor get pressure up the middle, nor pic the tipped balls off(decoud), nor teach owens that if the outside wr does not go deep there is not a point in dropping to the assigned zone and leaving a 18yd in route open on 3rd and long

With JJ, Roddy, Gonzalez, and Turner out there, I expected a 17 point deficit to be a cakewalk. Of course, with Cutler out there, I expected getting down by 17 an impossibility.

that's right we panicked, the OC did. You cannot go all pass b/c the D pins their ears back. Our biggest play had been a huge run. Our D was playing pretty good. Beirman scores a TD, anything can happen. But we all but gave up on the run which made us 1 dimensional. That's on Mularkey. Best way to beat an upfield aggressive front 4? Draws, runs right at it, screens, quick hits. DBs start sitting on short stuff, hit em for medium to long stuff. Now you are dictating. this is 101 stuff and alot of us don't see it. Cover 2 middle field behind lber, in front of safety. in between db and safety on sideline. many ways to attack a cover 2. It looked like we had never seen it before.

I'm hoping we got that bad game out of our system, and now we're ready to play some Falcon Football next week. Yeah a blowout loss leaves a really bad taste in my mouth, but if we had to suck for 1 game or two, I'd rather have it early in the season than late. I do NOT believe that we are as bad as we looked today, and over the next few games I do believe we will figure out how to use our new weapons and fix our OL problems

Yeah, everyones pretty much dropped logic around here and gone into Chicken "The Sky Is Falling" Little Mode. I'm thinking about just leaving the boards for the next week while all the overreactors chill out.

uh, I think you might want to make that a two-week sabbatical due to the fact the Eagles are going to beat down this pathetic Falcon defense like throwing a bunch of Girl Scouts into an alligator pond.

Final score: 30 to 12 Bears.

What happened: We beat ourselves. True, can't argue

Agree the D played a solid C game. Spoon actually wraps up and tackles and Decoud makes 1 of those picks and the D gets an A.

Throwing bombs on cover 2 won't work, true. There are many other ways to attack it, and design routes to get YAC. MM does not do it.

We lost 30 to 12 but if we dont turn the ball over that game would be in the range as it was played, which imo would have been in the 15 to 20 point range with either team winning. Why did we turn the ball over? What was the series of plays that led up to it? What was Ryan doing carrying the ball like a loaf of bread like a panicky rookie to fumble the ball? Turner doesn't know the bears especially are about punching the ball out? That he needs ball security at all times? Please.

But please understand it is game one, and while we have a lot to work on, turnovers are something we can control and can fix. This is nothing like losing to the Steelers last yr. That was a well played game, where 1 team made 1 play in OT to win. This was a debacle on the level of the Eagles last year. Its the first game against a crucial NFC opponent. On the heals of the Packers Debacle...we wonder what exactly was learned / improved?

Enough with this " oh its just one game" BS, history shows that whenever the Falcons are expected to compete & win, then we always lose. Not only lose but lose badly. We have to start holding this team accountable.

I have been a fan since the 98' season when i was 10 years old.

98 super bowl, blown out by denver

99 season 2 game vs cowboys, Jamal Anderson tears ACL & season is over

2001 we are humiliated on MNF by the rams. Blank issues fan apology

2002 stomped by Eagles in playoffs

2003 vick breaks leg in preseason & season is over

2004 Kansas city game & stomped by Eagles again in playoffs

2007 enough said

2009 finished 9-7

2010 raped by GB at our dome

And we start off this season getting stomped by the bears in our 1st game after a 13-4 season.

The point im trying to make is that we can't keep saying that its just ONE game when this team has a recent history of not playing up to expectations after having a successful year prior. This Franchise needs to step it up & stop settling for mediocore play & then making excuses for it. You should play to win EVERY game so stop saying we'll do better next week when at the end of the season, we are left out of the playoffs

2004
