What is REALLY Important Now . . .

Is PANIC!!!!!

Ridicule the coaches and players who have brought us unparalleled success these last three years.

Be certain that we cannot possibly score 13 more points than the Bears in the 2nd half.

Be DARN sure that, if we Do lose, on the road, to a team that played in the NFC Championship game last season, we can not POSSIBLY reach the playoffs this season.

KNOW that 0-1 condemns our season . . .

This is what must be done.

And it must be done NOW!

3 pages later, I think you got your wish.....

Unfortunately, I know these boards too well.

As Gregg Easterbrook says, Don't panic, there will be plenty of time for that later. The lesson from today is to forget about our "Ferrari offense" and conga lines for Jay Cutler interceptions, and refocus on holding onto the football, wrapping up on tackles, keeping our feet and making blocks.

If we pay attention to the process that has brought three consecutive winning seasons and quit believing our own hype, everything will be fine.

Not wrapping up on tackles cost us at least 2 touchdowns, most particularly the one where Sean Weatherspoon thought pushing Matt Forte was a good way to "tackle" him 8 feet inbounds. Uh, there's no sideline Sean!

I agree. We were not prepared. I'm not happy with that, but that's a coaching and execution problem. Hopefully we'll get back to fundamentals. Also, the Bears stopping the run with their front four didn't bode well for an "explosive" offense. You don't just start chucking it. A true vertical offense works off of play action. A lot. No one was biting on the run today. They had the dual benefit of run stopping and pass rushing from their front four AND dropping everyone else into coverage. That defense is ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure that "tackle" would have killed the play during 7 on 7's a month ago.

Per Tony G:

“People outside the organization are going to push the panic button,” he said. “They’re going to think, ‘Oh my God. Overhyped. Over this. Over that. You know what? They’re full of it. If you want to think that, go ahead. Maybe it sells papers. Maybe it gives people something to talk about. But it’s one game. We’ve got the players to do something special. We just have to go out next week and play better. And we will next week, I guarantee it.”
