Wow, you are going back 30 years. That's ridiculous. The game and how coaches approach the Preseason have changed DRAMATICALLY over the last 30 years. How do you feel about these stats?

Since 2000:

Of the teams that went undefeated in the Preseason (4-0), 55% went 8-8 or WORSE during the regular season.

Of the teams that went without a win in the Preseason (0-4), 52% went 8-8 or BETTER during the regular season. A higher percentage of teams have a successful season after going 0-4 than 4-0 in the Preseason.

13 teams have gone winless through the Preseason since 2005. Only 4 of those 13 ended up with a losing record during the regular season. Almost half (6) ended up with 10+ wins.

Notable teams that recently went 0-4 in the Preseason since 2005.

Arizona 2009 10-6

Chicago 2010 12-4

Indy 2005 14-2

Indy 2010 10-6

KC 2005 10-6

NE 2008 11-5

I guess BigA don't like those stats.......owned

Stats don't look good for Falcons this year so far.

When you learn more about football, you will understand that each team, each coaching staff has an objective to obtain during preseason.

Some have a lot of turnover and they will play all out with the new personnel to get them to gel. Some are trying positional battle spots out - and place the players in situations to achieve those. Some are just trying to get their players out healthy and really put their starters in as little as possible. Others are trying to get their team into a win mode because they feel they under-achieved the last year. Other coaches have mature teams that are familiar with the schemes and they just go out there and play - knock the rust off and have a good time. Those teams win a lot in preseason, but it doesn't factor into what the regular season brings.

Whatever the objective, the coaches call the plays, play the players they need to evaluate and put the players into the situations they are reviewing or investigating.

Winning is nice. Everyone would like to get out with a win. Basically, if the coaches have achieved what they were after - they get a win, regardless of the score.

For you or anyone else to believe that those Win/Loss, scores or stats in the preseason means anything else shows that you are a casual fan who does not delve into the inner workings of an NFL team.

Maybe Sean could enlighten you on the realities of functional needs in the preseason. Give him a call.

In no way im i trying to defend the OP, but why does he get negged for posting truthful information???I also seen chris berman talkin about this during the morning sportcenter and he used us as an example of teams going 0-4 in the preseason. Does that mean he is bashing us, no it doesnt. I disagree with the OP when he said it doesnt look good for the falcons, because we look great compared to last season.

Don't worry. In an attempt to keep himself from jumping off a dam due to last night's atrocity, he has to come here instead and create some lame BS about pre-season records. You need to worry about your team mimicking an arena football team last night. All offense, no defense, and spotty STs.

Here is a stat for you:

Since the 12 team format in 1990, 47 teams have started 0-1 and still made the playoffs. That's 18.7%

The stats look bad for you New Orleans.

BUMP. See how that works Big A??? You can play with stats and numbers all day baby boy. . . It gets you no where.

lol, here's another stat...6 years in a row the team that loses the NFL kickoff game has missed the playoffs despite good expectations

looks bad for the Saints I guess

Although i would love for that to happen, Saints offense may just be good enough to get them into the post season. How many offenses are like the packers offense?

I don't forsee it happening but you never know..the Packers offense is really good, but that was still an awful performance by the Saints Defense, and kickoff coverage..sloppy tackling and what not

their offense is good at always, but that defense needs work
