Is ANYONE concerned about Cutler having his way with our secondary?

Let's face it, when Cutler is hot, he can put the ball almost anywhere he wants. If we don't rattle him with some pressure and get some licks on him, I am concerned he will open up that passing game on a secondary that doesn't seem to have found their identity yet. I believe in the old saying that defense wins championships. Offensively, I think we can run with any team in the league, defense will separate us (good or bad).

As each day passes and we get closer to gameday, I get more and more anxious. The homer in me thinks my concerns will be addressed by posting them on a message board!

We better rattle Cutler. If we can't get pressure on him, it's not happening this year. The Bears have as bad an OL as it gets. Cutler is one of those QB's you just don't know who you're going to get each week. I also would not make the mistake of assuming our offense will be fine Sunday. The Bears are a veteran defense, and defenses are always ahead of offenses early on in the season. With the lockout, that should be amplified.

Im about as concerned as any game, in the sense anything can happen (Browns beating steelers and patriots??) but Im not too concerned overall. This isn't going to be like facing Philly, NO or GB (only teams that im nervous to face, defensively)

Lets face it, the Bears offensive line is just not that good, and their WRs are just ok. The special teams change hurts them the most, as that was the main "scary" aspect of their team for the past 5 years.

So yea, Im predicting a blowout, if not than definitely a win of at least one touchdown.

I would be a little concerned about Hester but I think Grimes will match well with him. Maybe a little help up top. The guy we have to stop is Forte. We've gotta keep Spoon or someone on him for swing passes, etc...He's really their most effective receiver.

It's not their offense that bothers me. It's their defense potentially pressuring Ryan and forcing turnovers. It's a cliche, but if we win the turnover battle, we will win the game.

I would be a little more concerned if his WR corps was a little more intimidating. Roy Williams is wack. Hester is a faster Dante Hall. Earl Bennett is pretty decent. Knox is their best WR and is #4 right now. They don't use their TEs and Olsen is gone so that is no threat. Forte is their best offensive weapon and he won't go for 100 yards receiving.

I do agree that defenses are always ahead of the offense, but I think our offense is a little different post-lockout. They worked pretty hard this offseason, especially Julio and Ryan. We know TG and Roddy will be ready. Matt Ryan has looked good. HD has looked spectacular and Turner seems to have a step back post-surgery. That is a lot to defend compared to a better Steelers defense only having to stop Roddy, Tony, and Turner last year.

Take into consideration also that the Bears fans will turn on Cutler early in the game if our defense comes out fast, which i think it will. They have little patience for this kid already.

If we can apply early pressure, it's all downhill for Cutler from there.

That O-line would have to play lights-out to stop our defensive front four.

IMO Babs is the key. Pressure up the middle is gonna destroy Chicago.

They will throw the ball a lot and it will result in a lot of yards (250+). But turnovers and strong red zone defense will mean those yards don't turn into many points.

Once they abandon the run, a hallmark of Martz offensive playcalling, we will tee off on Cutler and that's when things will really go downhill for da bears.

We have a defensive scheme that concedes a lot of short passes, but which also forces an offense to put together a long mistake free drive if they want to reach the endzone. A mistake prone QB like Cutler is a good match up for us.

I'm not as concerned about Cutler as I am about the weather. Right now the forecast looks good, which is in our favor. Chicago's weather can change quickly though. This might sound stupid to some, but I really do think this game would be 10x harder if it's windy and/or raining. Bad weather would make it harder for us to use our weopons in the passing game, which is what gives us an edge. Their rush defense is very very good. If we can't throw the ball, we would have trouble moving on offense with Hawley at Center and a new RG.

In regards to the topic, if we can't stop their passing game, it's going to be a very long season.

I wouldn't underestimate the Bears! They are playing at home and once their fans get into the game, Soldier Field can be a tough place for a team on the road. The Falcons need to develop into being tough on the road. Execution on Offense, Domination on Defense. Turnovers will be the key to this game I think.

Cutler is going to put up numbers on us ...Cause I dont see Forte running against us ..Our run defense is so ahead of our pass defense. Plus Martz likes to call screens and with 2 DES that like to get up field we will be vulnerable to them ..This game will be a close game cause I dont see our offense doing much ..Ryan will have a okay game he rarely plays good outside ..I feel Turner will have 70+ yards and 1 td

Game will come down to turnovers/field position

Falcons 20

Bears 17

Cutler 22/34 249 yards 2 tds 1 int

Ryan 24/36 212 yards 1 td 1 int

Turner 20 atts 77 yards 1 td

Forte 22 atts 54 yards 0 tds

Cutler is exactly what you state. He can get hot but he can also lose games for his team. He is a decent QB with good mobility but his arm strength makes him make more bad decisions than most.

With Abe pressuring from the right side and Edwards batting clean up I see no way for him to get into a rythm consistently enough to beat us. Babs will prevent him from stepping up and I see Dunta, Willy Mo and Decoud improving in our system.

R. Williams gives him a big target but he loses his favorite target from last year Olsen.

Cutler may pass for over 200 yards in this game but it will be a lot of balls to RBs and I dont see Hester or Knox getting deep over our safeties to cause enough trouble for Falcons.

Will he give us problems, yes. Will he shred the secondary? No. He will make a number of mistakes, turning the fans against him and he'll quit...again.

WARNING: Bear fan here

Not to discredit what you said, but this game might be significant if both teams turn out to have a good season. If NO turns out to be good (which I am doubting), CHI and ATL could be fighting for a Wildcard spot at the end of the year...

Not to discount Cutler, but the Falcons have a lot bigger fish to fry on the schedule than him.

I don't see him shredding the Falcons D. If he does..well....that won't bode well for the rest of the season.

Falcons defense made the pedestrian Carson Palmer and over-the-hill T.O. and Ocho Cinquo look pretty good against Falcons defense last year.

Falcons should be better w/ Ray Edwards, healthy Spoon and Jerry and better nickel play - but until I see Falcons Defense play a good game, I won't believe it......

hope to see a strong D on Sunday. If Falcons Defense cannot slow down the Bears, it does not bode well with games against Eagles and Packers forthcoming.
