Northern_Falcon
Say what you want about Garrard in the last thread. CB Darius Butler released by Patriots after club was unable to trade him - should be a hot commodity on waivers. This could be a big upgrade. Get rid of owens and bring him home TDSource : Adam Schefter Twitter Edited September 6, 2011 by Northern_Falcon
CHOCTHEFALCONFAN™
There were talks about us drafting him, but 10 defensive backs is enough. unless, you're talking about cutting Owens. vel
And he we go with another "Bring him home TD" thread. I am not opposed to it as I like Butler when he came out but do you really want to start the season with Grimes and DRob as our only experienced corners in the system? Peyton
Is he a great special teams player? Because that is the only way he is going to play.

Butler, Hayden, Grimes, Dunta sounds pretty good to meI say we give Franks one more year to evaluate, might as well give him just as long of a chance to develop as Owens, and he also should be backing up Weems on returns. If Franks looks like rat azz throughout next training camp and preseason, torpedo him. But I think he should get one more year.
vel
Q: Could Darius Butler be any worse than Chris Owens?A: _<insert your answer here>G-Dawg Answer: H3LL NO!!!Lol I am still waiting on Owens to fall flat on his face this season. Outside of the TD to Miami, he hasn't I can't speak on the BAL game as my DVR erased it but between the TD vs Miami, and the BAL game, you couldn't find anything bad he did. Butler clearly did enough bad to get cut and was a higher pick than Owens.

bossFALCON™
i'd cut owens for him. i wanted us to take him with the 24th pick in the 09 draft. he's a little bit of a project but he's started 8 games for NE the past two years and is really athletic. he reminds me a little bit of grimes. Peyton
last I heard patriots were pretty good...The Patriots were 30th in pass defense last year, so I don't know that picking up every guy who can't make their defensive backfield is all that great an idea. Were they that bad or has BB gone mad? I truly think Sanders was a gift to TD. BB wasn't doing anything with him and TD had tried to trade for him a while back. Why not cut him and let him go straight to the Falcons with the man who drafted him basically.
paulitik
If we cut Owens, I'll take Joselio Hanson or Darius Butler. these guys are young, and already further along than the Human Torched.

vel
@paulitik - Joselio Hanson isn't that young. More like 30. Career 4 INTs. I'll pass. @g-dawg - you can argue he is more talented but he hasn't shown it. Clearly they like Owens or he would have been gone. Like Peyton said, he couldn't even make the roster of the 30th best pass defense, do you think he can on the 22nd best? Yea we brought in Sanders, but that was TD's guy apparently. Butler wasn't.
