nativefalcon 314
I was at Dragoncon over the weekend and saw Carrie Fisher and she carringed when this guy asked about it, I remember watching it when I was a kid. If your in the 40 range you might remember it. It was released in 78. Its rated as the number one worst things ever in TV. They had Harrison Ford on Conan Obrien and he asked him about it and what he did was hilarious. George Lucas will not release it and you can only view it on you tube or if you can find it online. Carrie Fisher said she kept a copy to driver off her friends after parties. ITS BAD. :P :P They said George Lucas former wife had control of this and basically tried to screw him with it. He soiad he if could find every copy and destroy it he would. :P http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Star_Wars_Holiday_Specialhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mz550T3QeAo
ATLBrave 3,618
This is entirely off topic, but I am watching Beverly Hills Cop 3 and the scene with George Lucas in it came on as I read this thread.
capologist 13,665
Only good part of that thing was the Boba Fett cartoon and all the great commercials...
NCFalconfan 9,662
Still better than The Phantom Menace.
nativefalcon 314
Still better than The Phantom Menace.Sorry I like the pantom menace better then this garbage. They had Bea Arthur singing, Art carney and also Harvel Korman, The whole thing was stupid, I could see why, George Lucas will not release it and would like to destoy every copy. Also I agree with cappy, the only good thing, was the introduction of Boba Fett. THat was when Bobfett was introduced actually.

Goal Line D 2,787
I think the worst part was Jake Lloyd (even worse than Jar Jar). That kid was a TERRIBLE actor. Just about every scene he was in made me cringe. Horrible casting move there. Lucas should have gone with a kid that we know can act (ie... Haley Joel Osment). It would've been one thing if the kid had a small part but he was Anakin F'in Skywalker!?!?! Kid's in pretty much the whole dam movie. Totally wrong choice by Lucas. Why he hates it so bad. Why read the wiki its about as funny as watching it but it explains alot. :P http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Star_Wars_Holiday_Special

capologist 13,665
Haley Joel Osment is also a kid and he was great in Sixth Sense and A.I. which were made near the same time frame as Phantom Menace. In other words there was a far better actor out there that fit the part and Lucas didn't hire him...Perhaps but Lloyd didn't bother me at all. I'm sure HJO would have done a great job but hindsight is always 20/20. You have to remember that when TPM was casted neither of those movies had been released and the only thing he had really done up to that point was play Forrest Gump's son... capologist 13,665
HJO: "Auditioned for Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999), but didn't get a callback."http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005286/biohttp://www.theforce.net/episode1/story/haley_joel_osment_as_anakin_76916.aspSomehow George Lucas thought that Jake Lloyd would be a better Anakin than HJO... :wacko:I'm fully aware he auditioned, it doesn't change the fact that he was still relatively unknown like Lloyd...
