Falcons RapidReports Sept. 05, 2011 3:24 p.m. - by Knox Bardeen - Falcons sorting though DBsCoach Mike Smith said part of the reason the Falcons are carrying 10 defensive backs is to help on special teams and because two DBs (CB Kelvin Hayden and S James Sanders) “just got into the building on Wednesday.” Falcons RapidReports Sept. 05, 2011 3:24 p.m. - by Knox Bardeen - Falcons work in rainInstead of moving inside, the Falcons spent 75 percent of their practice outside in a downpour. “It did allow us to get out and work in the weather, which is something we haven’t done, and there’s a chance at some point in the season we’re going to have handle a wet ball," head coach Mike Smith said. Falcons RapidReports Sept. 05, 2011 1:38 p.m. - by Knox Bardeen - Falcons OL will be challenged by Bears, PeppersRG Garrett Reynolds said the front seven for the Bears will be a challenge this week, especially Chicago DE Julius Peppers. The key, Reynolds says, is to always have Peppers in your sights because Peppers moves "in a three technique to the back side and stuff like that.” Falcons RapidReports Sept. 05, 2011 1:30 p.m. - by Knox Bardeen - Reynolds thinks he will start at RG but not certainRG Garrett Reynolds thinks he has won the position battle over OG Mike Johnson, but no one has told him for sure, according to Fox Sports South. “I assume so as of now," he said. Falcons RapidReports Sept. 05, 2011 12:08 p.m. - by Knox Bardeen - Falcons sign TE Branson to practice squadThe Falcons added TE Marquez Branson to their practice squad on Monday. Branson signed with the team in 2010 and spent the entire season on the practice squad. He’s been battling a knee injury through the preseason. Falcons RapidReportsGood to see that those two practiced today, but I sure was hoping Peters would be back too. It's also interesting to read what Smitty said about having 10 DB's on the roster. I wonder what changes will be made after Hayden and Sanders get used to the system. I like that they practiced in the rain. I think it's good to mix it up like that in case they have to play in the rain someday. I just read this about Brandon Harvey too. FalconsJAdams Jay AdamsLooks like WR Brandyn Harvey has landed on the Cardinals' practice squad. Edited September 5, 2011 by JRid

FalconinPA
I am hoping that DRob can go the entire season injury free. I hope he has gotten this injury bug that keeps biting him out of the way. I am curious to see how good we can be on defense.
swift
10 secondary personnel is just way to many to carry ..Why is TD being stubborn on Owens..Cut dead weight and move on..The team is short a LT if Baker goes down ..
JRid
thanks jrid and wtf did u get that ornament? i need me one too lolYou are welcome. I got the Falcons decoration last season at Tuesday Morning in Athens. They only got one in and I don't know if they will get anymore this year. The arm moves on it too. You should check some of the Tuesday Morning stores in Atlanta. Since the season is about to start they might have gotten some in. They will probably have some random Falcons stuff even if they don't have the one I got.

Someone, likely Owens, will be released when Hayden is ready.
Lou_Dog
I cant believe some of you still think that Sidbury is real. There is no Sidbury. It was a joke madeup by the coaching staff a few years back.

I am curious to see how good we can be on defense. He was practically injury free last year. The collision with DeSean Jackson shouldn't be held against him. The concussion rules kept him out. It wasn't something he could prevent like a hammy or other things. Concussions can happen just bumping too hard at practice. We will see. I think he will be fine. Lou_Dog
Yeah, I remember when that imaginary thing dragged several Buffalo offensive players into the endzone for a defensive touchdown.I didnt say it wasnt a very well thought out and executed trick. But a trick nonetheless

Lou_Dog
Thats great news cause without d-rob against Chicago that could cause a real mismatch problemIf Hayden were playing that game it wouldnt be as big of a deal but without either of them we would have had Grimes, Owens, and Franks as our top 3. Thats a scary thought.

Thats a scary thought. Not really in my opinion. Their WRs are suspect and Cutler is easily rattled. If we can jump to a 10-0 lead, the game could be over early if our defense pins their ears back and their arms work when they get in the backfield. As I said in another thread, I don't suspect Cutler will have time to get to his slot option anyway with the way their line has looked and the way our defensive front has looked. He can light you up at times.

He can light you up at times.Yea at times. But he doesn't have Olsen and Roy Williams is his #1 WR now. That's a joke. They don't really use the TE in Martz' system, not to say they have a good one anymore. So in a 2 WR set, they have Hester and Forte as their weapons. 3 WR and Knox still may not be on the field ahead of Earl Bennett. For some reason they don't like him. Their weapons don't scare me. Yes Cutler can be dangerous but the blitzes BVG has drawn up lately will get pressure on Cutler early and often. We all know what happens after that. We are still a top 10 unit against the run and should be able to negate most of Forte's impact. Putting the game on Cutler's shoulders is asking for INTs.
