Corey Peters Listed #1 on Depth Chart

Peters' injury has now stretched out for three weeks. The team site lists him starting beside Babs but I haven't read or heard that he's coming back or practicing yet. Obviously, I want our entire team healthy this week (I'm already freaked to lose McClure and I know Robinson will be starting) and this would make me feel better to find out we'll have a fresh set of defensive linemen to start the season. Can somebody help me out with news?

well if he doesnt start this week how ironic will that be... last year peters was starting for jerry cause of a knee injury.. i think the staff is trying to give jerry every chance to win his spot back...

A healthy Peters allows Jerry to play fewer snaps which will (hopefully) contribute to him staying healthy. And vice versa.

he only played fewer snaps last year cause he was recovering from a kneinjury that is still known... so it must have been pretty serious... thats the only reason peters got the nod at starting cause jerry was nowhere near ready..

Both lines have some serious question marks. Here are a few:

Dline

-Peters has a knee injury

-Abe ain't no spring chicken

-Edwards is coming off knee surgery in a new system

-Peria is very close to bust status

Oline

-SackMakerBaker is shaky at best

-McClure ain't no spring chicken

-Blalock didn't play like he did in his contract year this preseason

-Reynolds and Hawley are virtual rooks

I am fine with Babs, Jerry, and Walker. No point in rushing Peters back for a game against a non-imposing OL. It's not like this is the Saints with their Guards. The Bears OLine is average at best and shouldn't cause any problems for our DLine to the point that they wear down in the first game. As long as Grimes, DRob, and Hayden handle Hester, Williams, and Bennett/Knox like we expect them to and the LBs keep Forte in check, it shouldn't be that hard against their offense. Especially if Ryan puts points on the board

What does that have to do with the question at hand?

I agree with most of what you said. I think saying Peria is close to bust status is kind of a stretch. I could understand if he wasn't improving or getting worse, but from what I've seen in preseason I'm very excited to see him finally live up to his draft pick. Also, I'm not worried about Mcclure's age. To me it seems to be the norm to have centers playing as long as he has if not longer. Sam Baker really worries me I agree and I agree Blalock had some rough outings in preseason.

+1

I think their D-Line/LB are of more concern , I respect the Bear "D" far more than their "O".

The Falcons "D" should be able to hold their own against the Bear "O", w/o Peters.

We need to see what PJ can do in a real game playing a majority of snaps.

Your last 3 for defense and middle 2 for offense are completely inconsequential. Abe competed in every game last season, demanded all of the attention as our only passrush threat, and still had 13 sacks. I'm sorry, but a guy doesn't go from dominant to non-factor in 4 months. Same goes for McClure. His injury is a concern, his age is a number. When our older players take a step back, they move down the depth chart. See Mike Peterson.
