Big Bubba
Guess I should add Car@Ari, Atl@Chi, Det@TB.I'm going.Saints. I think they can take the Packers.Panthers. Panthers have demolished the Cardinals every regular season, for like the last 5 or 6 years straight. Even last year. The only time they can't seem to beat them, is in the playoffs. Lions. I think the Suh, Fairley combo will be unveiled in a big way.Bears. If it was in Atlanta, I'd pick the Falcons.

ITS ONLY GAME ONE.GOOD LUCK ANY WAY! I don't blame ya. I'm still optimistic though. When you see a team with a historically bad offense last season, actually go out and beat the team in question.. it's hard to see beyond that. They win, they win, if they lose, they lose. No big deal either way. You too!

Nawlins4lyfe
The REFS...a swamper classic!  You used a HOOKER for being the reason why the Turds lost to the Broncos in the SB as an excuse. One of the weakest excuses I've ever heard!! Edited September 5, 2011 by Nawlins4lyfe

If it was in Atlanta, I'd pick the Falcons. One thing I think people are missing about the Packers is their quality depth last year across the board. When they accrued all of those injuries, the opposing teams couldn't gameplan for the Packers reserves.Because of that,we really don't know if the starters who got injured would have done much better.I really like the Saints chances of winning this game. SuperAINTSfan
That was reality. A difference between that and a kicker missing a 29 yarder! so ones an excuse and one is reality?

A difference between that and a kicker missing a 29 yarder! at least a missed kick happens ON the field. A hooker the night before cost you a Super Bowl tho?please. The only thing that cost you guys that super bowl was the other team.
pencilpusher. just because
as for the threads question, I gotta go with the home team on opening day in most cases, unless the visitor is just way superior. Saints could pull it off as far as talent goes, but emotions I think are running too high at Lambeau for the Packers to lose this one. If the Saints pull it off tho, that's them winning a game they should lose, so they will have a leg up there.

pencilpusher. just because
All things being equal, if Atlanta and Dallas win this weekend, would we both have a 'leg up' as well?I don't think anyone is picking the Bears to win and I don't think anyone is picking the Cowboys to win, so what's your point? Cowboys would have a leg up because they would have won a game they are not supposed to win. Atlanta is supposed to win or at the very least is not an underdog, so they would still be on track, neither up nor down. I don't think anyone is picking a 6-10 team from last year to go on the road and beat an 11-5 team last year who lost in the conference championship game after beating the Colts and the Pats. I think the Cowboys will be much improved this year, but whether the record shows it or not, I don't know.

I imagine there will be plenty of pundits picking the Bears in week 1. Maybe a few, but Do you seriously think Atlanta is considered an underdog? I don't think it will mean anything in the big picture winning or losing the game. For Dallas, it would be a pretty big win. I'm just saying those two games don't compare for the purposes. In my original post I said I wouldn't pick a team to win on a road opener unless they were superior, and I think Atlanta is heads and shoulders over Chicago. For gods sakes, Chicago picked up three guys that Dallas dropped from a 6-10 team.
