stldirtybird
There was an article when D-Rob first came here he said the staff wanted him to play outside and first and second down. Then he would slide inside to play nickle on third down...and blitz the QB from that postition. I think I remember seeing that they were lookn for someone to play outside on third downs and slide D-Rob into the nickle. Owens couldn't handle it so they kept D-Rob on the outside. Fast forward to now if Hayden is heathy he can be that outside corner on third down and let Robinson play the nickle on third down....Example like Charles Woodson did for the Packers last year. madman88
i never head or seen anything like that.. i remember him saying he rather play on th right side... i do remember that... which is wat he played in houston mostly...
bossFALCON™
yup that's what i think too. sportsfreak posted the depth chart last year that showed it. robinson is the best man corner in the league and would really help against slot receivers and tight ends on 3rd downs. could also get after the qb on those 3-3-5 zone blitzes we love. i don't think he'd miss either like owens or williams. it may sound crazy but i wouldn't be surprised if we went with grimes at RCB (had 4 INTs from there in 09), hayden at LCB (where he played in indy) and robinson at the nickle on 3rd and longs. stldirtybird
I think it was an Interview he did sometime last year.

bossFALCON™
I think it was an Interview he did sometime last year.and sports freak posted a depth chart which had robinson at nickle back and owens and grimes outside. but i think they knew owens wouldn't hold up, which is why we just played it safe and went with b williams. The Don™
Yes, sportsfreak did say that Robinson would slide to the nickel spot when we played nickel. Probably not all the time, but most of the time...One of Robinson's strengths is his physicality and blitzing ability. He was quoted last year saying that he loves to blitz and attack the QB... Radical
robinson is the best man corner in the leagueNope. Anyways. It isn't a permanent thing, and he wouldn't slide in on every down. It was just a sub-package we'd use every now and then, like the 3-3-5.

sandtrap
Said it in another thread. I can definitely see Robinson headhunting opposing qbs from the nickel.

Karst41
Starting to sound as though our Defensive Coordinator didn't have the right people to run the schemes he wanted... no more excuses this year if everyone stays healthy. If Hayden can hold dow the corner and D Rob loves the action at Nickle, then HeII yeah, let em play.Images of Brees with a mouthful of turf are dancing through my haed. shockerfalcon
Im all for d-rob sliding inside on passing situations. He is our best cover corner and tackler. I say move grimes to rcb hayden on the left and let d-rob do his thing.
Miller2Rison
i love it, as a former WR dunta looks like a DB i wouldnt want to battle with (as you can see below) I think he can excel sliding into the nickel and come through on some blitzes might be putting some QBs out of some games. Sheldon Cooper
If Hayden is healthy I think he will be the LCB with Grimes the RCB and Robinson the nickel like you said. Robinson is the best tackler amoung our CB's so sending him after the QB is a good idea.

Robinson will be the RCB and Grimes will be the LCB. In nickel packages, Robinson may move to nickel sometimes and Hayden may move to RCB. If Dunta' can put pressure on guys like Brees and Rodgers for us from that position, I'd say its worth every bit of 57 mil!

The starting CBs are, and that's what Robinson is going to be...
