IllinoisFalcon
I don't know about the rest of you but I am very excited to see Matt throwing like crazy this upcoming season. It's gonna be different to see a QB for the ATL with 300+ yards and multiple TD's. Rest easy this year knowing we aren't gonna have to drive down the field soaking up the clock with dink and dunk plays. I am so ready to see us go out there and just bomb one for a huge TD and light people up. Anyone else think Matty Ice is gonna be throwing 30+ TD,s 4k yards ? Atlfanstckndenver
I actually do. At least with the Yards. The way i look at it is if the receivers matts throwing to can just add 30 yards or so a game in YAC his avg would hit 250 yards a game and result in being at least near that 4k yard mark. For the first time I can think of I am really confident in our starters. I hope I am not setting myself up for disappointment but if I am so be it. The Don™
He had 3700 last year with Roddy and Tony being the only real offensive threats in the offense...And Tony has been a mostly possession guy in recent years. So basically only one receiver that can get YACWe still got Roddy and Tony this year. We also have a guy named Julio Jones and a probable breakout player in Harry Douglas....That's three guys that can go for big yards every time they touch it...Yeah, he can get 4000

Win or Lose they are my Falcs.
takeitdown
It's a solid bet. Julio has to learn to make catches in traffic, and come down with jump balls. If he can do that ,in addition to what we've seen from him already, which has mostly been in the open field...it will be hard to contain the offense. I want single coverage on him to mean he's open and Ryan can feel comfortable if he throws it up, Jones will go get it.
PokerSteve
Now that we have the skill positions filled, the OL has to step up and keep the rush off Ryan. Or we need to execute the screen pass much better to help with the pass rush, or maybe both? If the OL holds'em off, Ryan will get his 4,000 yards and 30 TD passes. IllinoisFalcon
I'm thinking I can snag Matt Ryan as my QB in the second/third round in my fantasy draft lol
madman88
were gonna open up he offense not turn into the colts or pats... yea we have weapons but to think matt is going to put it up 40 times a game is a little ridiculous.

I just think now that we have the personnel to turn screens/short completions into big yards his stats will go up.

And we do try it, we fail at it. With Quizz's quickness, I think we will see the screen more this year...

We're not the run first team people think we are. 3 more passes a game wouldn't be crazy.Though I'd like to see it be about 35 times a game, with higher YPA...more long passes. LA Falcon
He'll top 4,000 yards. And the TD's will be there. But the stats to watch are 3rd down performance -- completions and conversions. Sustaining drives is what makes a QB great. Red Zone stats are a close second in my book. Yards and TD's are for the fanboys. 3rd down and red zone is where the cream separates. IllinoisFalcon
We've had one of the best third down conversion ratios the past couple of years I think.

Only to say that's what makes him so good and what often gets overlooked.

And we do try it, we fail at it. With Quizz's quickness, I think we will see the screen more this year...it ain't just about screen passes though. one of the main reasons we were dead last in YAC is that a good majority of our receptions are made with the receivers back to the end zone, or toeing the line before falling or running out of bounds. we have to get the ball to our receivers in motion so they can at least make a move when they get the ball. look at the results we saw when we hit Harry & Julio in stride on plays going across the middle. we got WAY too much speed to be running as many stop, come back & out routes that we do. we need more passes to Turner to keep those DEs honest and to help soften up the pass rush. I hope this is the year that magical playbook we've been hearing about gets opened.

I'm just saying short drag routes and stuff like that where Julio can take a ten yard pass and turn it into a big gain will really help Ryan out. We definitely need to throw the deep ball too but like another poster pointed out we throw a lot of passes towards the sidelines bit now with the speed and talent we have I don't see that happening as often. Del-Falcon21
Ive been having this feeling since Matt Ryan came to the Falcons. To have a quarterback put up over 4k is what I always long for here in Atlanta. And Matt Ryan can definitely be that guy to do so. In addition, also put up over 30 tds.
