chadtm77
I really hope not. Besides the tv market in kansas city and st louis ( which we all know that's what this is about) what do they bring to the table. I would much rather have a team from the east coast join. Cable Guy
If true then welcome Missouri. I would prefered an east coast team. But the article is wrong about OU. Unless the SEC moves to a 16 team conference then OU will not be joining. I believe that their is some type of law that says OU and OSU are tied together. You can't take one without the other. Carter
There is a lot of movement going on within the Big 12. Conference will be dead in 3-5 years. Texas doesn't care about preserving their traditional rivalries. Adding Conference-USA teams won't save the Big 12... if they manage to keep the "Big 12" together, it will be little more than what the MWC is now. Texas, OU, OSU, Mizzou, Kansas have all been talked about with SEC, Pac-12, Big Ten expansion.I think Kansas and Mizzou end up together in the Big Ten... just makes more sense, plus they can continue their rivalry and cultivate other regional rivalries.Regarding OU and OSU... even if it isn't a law, the schools want to stay together. They won't be separating. And the word I'm hearing is that they are looking west, the Pac-12 is now actively pursuing them... so I would expect them to join the Pac-12. Murph35
In terms of broadening the SEC's scope, only NC, VA, and Missouri make since geographically. VA won't happen, NC wont happen due to Tobacco road (unless NC State wants to step out of it's big brother's shadow), so only Mizzou is an option, unless we add a Big east team like..? Cincy, Louisville, WVA, Pitt? I don't know..

The teams will move into other conferences and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Texas go independent.
stumpjumper
The only eastern school I see wanting to join would be Louisville, dunno if Kentucky would let it though. Mizzou might make the most sense.

I mean what is the incentive for a name program to schedule a team like Texas as on OOC? Not much IMO. Carter
Yep, just look at Notre Dame. To their credit they were playing Big Ten teams and USC when they were all strong, or at least stronger. But Notre Dame only needs to be ranked I think 12th and they are AQ for a BCS at large bid. Texas will be much the same if/when they go independent.Hearing that the SEC has strong interest in VT. We'll see what happens. I don't think factors outside of football revenue and tv market matter much. Football is where the big money is, basketball is meh. Especially if their 1 or 2 marquee opponents are having a down year. But hey they're Texas so they don't need advice from little ol' me. I'm just glad we play a conference schedule that if we win the conference we can play for the MNC.
Converted 1981
We will add Mizzu, Va Tech and NC State (TV Markets) NC not a player - basketball to important = Duke/ACC. Expansion to 4 Super Conferences will provide a 16 team playoff which will force any independent into a conference to be included. No way to allow 2 or 3 independents to dictate rotation in a 16 game playoff. Texas/ESPN will end up having to eat that contract (LOL).
