feelnu
I'm very excited that we signed both Hayden and Sanders to our secondary. I was hoping we'd get some experience in our secondary, now I'm comfortable we've done that this off season. Now BVG and MM have to do their jobs and put these guys in the position to make BIG PLAYS and stop all this conservative play calling. I can't wait till we play Chicago and Philly. It's going to be a fun season. Go Falcons!

vel
Hayden should be able to play pretty quickly. Just keep him in man situations until he is comfortable with the zone reads. Man is pretty easy: guard your man lol. But zone you need to know where your help is and is a big dependent coverage. Takes trust to know your man will be there for help/support. Sanders will have to catch up in the playbook a little being the safety and everybody's help.

I doubt if Hayden will take as long as Sanders. I do agree if we keep him in MAN situations, we'll be fine. They both been in the league for some time. I doubt if it takes long for them to pick up our scheme.
Guest Absconditus
This is my same feeling. I hope Hayden and Sanders can overcome BVG's play-calling.

SavvyFalcon89
Its hard to say right now but as Vel said it will depend on how well Hayden and Sanders pick up on the scheme. I Hayden will have more of a learning curve than Sanders imo. But overall i believe they will be able to handle it......oh and GOOOOOOO FALCONS!!!!!!!!! shockerfalcon
I'm not worried at all about either player making the transition or learning the scheme. Both Indy and the Pats run a lot of zone. Also I could see us using them early in the season only in obvious pass situations and when teams attempt to spread the field on us. Both are seasoned vets coming from great teams that are well coached. Plus working off of one year deal gives them a lot of incentive to learn quickly and contribute early and often. I'm loving these 1 year deals. If things work out, then we have options. If not, see ya later. I'm confident these guys will pick up our scheme and become immediate contributors to our defense. It's good to know they aren't little guys either, they both have some size. Something we lack on the defensive side.
TeamPlayer1
The lockout affected everyone so they are not too far behind. They will catch up.
feelnu
I agree they'll pick up our scheme. I'm glad we got Chicago and Philly early to give those guys some time to get acclimated. Chicago and Philly's WR match up well with our present secondary. So by the Tampa game we should be cooking on all cylinders.

birdz4i
Which 2 players got cut to make room for them?i believe we cut down to 79 before sanders signed, so right now it should be just 1 cut.

But there could be a surprise coming. Edited September 1, 2011 by 4LoveoftheGame
JOKER2
I feel really good that in the last 3 days we have shored up center, cornerback and safety with some pretty good players. TD has done well considering the lockout and the FA crunch, also resigning our 2 OL and Snelling in addition to getting Ray Edwards and giving us more depth at TE with Reggie Kelly coming home.We are really deep and got a lot of props on NFL.com today after the Hayden signing was announced. Nice seeing our only notable losses are Harvey Dahl, Jamaal Anderson and Michael Jenkins. (I only consider Dahl a "notable loss").

deathonwings369
agreed hayden will be in a man coverage role early on. sanders might take more time though. our defense is set. no worries and no excuses. offensive line though? im not so sure. maxatlanta
I don't think our DC is gonna change the coverages/scheme in order to get Hayden on the field. We use a lot of zone. Hayden has been in a similar system and has spent his career playing off/zone coverage anyways. The main learning curve is probably more about playing nickel as opposed to outside. But since he's already been cross trained to play FS(in Indy), he is likely a smart football player. It's harder for a CB to learn the FS position than it is the nickel. freebird310
Our system is not that complicated ...it is the terminology that will take a little time to learn, not their actual assignments ....
