IveyLeaguer
Don't know how you guys do it, but thought a thread about the game itself would be good. What's on your mind about the game this week?As gameweek progresses, I generally get more and more nervous. Today I've been thinking about those 17 seniors Boise starts. When is the last time we played a team that old and experienced? I can't remember. But it doesn't happen often, and those seniors are definitely a factor in the game, as they would be for just about any college game. And we know those seniors are good players in this case.A couple of things come to mind ... One, we have to take care of the ball, limit turnovers. We may need to win the turnover battle, for that matter. Another is we have to play considerably smarter than we have in recent years (duh). Usually to beat a team like this, you have to make sure you don't beat yourself. This, and staying away from key injuries is probably the key to the whole season, for that matter. I'm feeling pretty good that we've turned the corner on this issue, since a lot of it has to do with overall discipline and attitude. Also, nice to hear that Bobo went the extra mile and spent all offseason working on Boise. Looking forward to seeing the plan unfold.~~~ Edited August 29, 2011 by IveyLeaguer
CalDawg
As of right now, I'm not feeling good about this game. We have the edge in athletic ability, but until proven otherwise they have the advantages elsewhere. Boise's coaches run a very good gameplan and I'll need to see a few before I can say the same about ours. The lack of offseason arrests are a positive but when it comes to team attitude comments like the one made by Boykin raise questions, at least for me. But the biggest factor is experience, a huge factor in an opening high pressure game and Boise has a big advantage there. The wild card is Aaron Murray. If Aaron has made good progress and the line can protect, then I think we can score some points. But we have too many questions for me to have the confidence level of most Georgia fans. Hopefully some of those doubts will be erased after the first game. Edited August 29, 2011 by CalDawg
TroubleDawg
I actually feel very confident about this game. First and foremost, limited injuries and no arrest (knock on wood) leads me to think that our team has a new attitude this season. Add in the fact that alot of our talented freshmen will get a chance to show what they have early on is also something new for us. Richt knows he on the hot seat. He will have us ready to play.Secondly, last years 6-7 record is skewed. We could have easily been 9-3, 10-2. How you ask? Simple.S Car game - We got handled up front and lost. Ark game - A 3rd down and 6 go route with no check down WR killed our comeback. We get 20 more yards, we kick the game winning Field goal and win 27-24. Had a GREAT chance to win.Miss St - We lose 24-12 but the game was 7-6 with 10 minutes to go in the game. Thats with a Ealey fumble at the 1 yard line, and a KD touchdown called back for holding. Definately should have won this one.Colorado - Conditioning killed us once again, but we were in position to kick the game winning Field Goal when King fumbled. Definately should have won.Florida - Fought back and had a chance to win the game. If Rambo doesnt drop the INT in regulation, we could have a FG chance for the win, Lost this one in OT but most definately could have been a win.Auburn - Played awesome for about 20 minutes and then Auburn turned it up a bit. Some unfortunate calls and the onside kick to start second half took our momentum. This was a loss, but 13 other teams took an L against them also.UCF - No excuse. Our guys were not ready to play and neither were our coaches. Drive 96 yards just to kick a FG on 4th and inches? i knew then we were in trouble. No excise, but definately a game we win 9 timesout of 10.I said all that to say this, we were not as bad as our record indicated last yr and thats reason in itself to believe we can improve. The loss of AJ will hurt, but I think TK, MB, and MM will shore that gap just fine.Add in the fact that the GA Dome will be ELECTRIC, I dont think Boise is going to know what hit them. And lastly, if there are any Dawg fans that think our team doesnt havechip on their shoulder and is ready to bust some heads open, they will see Saturday Night. I dont want to wish injury upon any player, but Kellen Moore better watch out. From what I've heard from a few of our guys, we are going to throw everything at him except the kitchen sink. Gritzblitz 2.0
It comes down to a simple question. Will UGA's athletic advantage be enough to overcome Boise's advantage in the coaching box?For those of you expecting a repeat of 2005, forget it. This game is going to be very close in the 4th quarter.
scottp12
counting your chickens before they hatched. It would be like me saying "OMFG Brantley gonna light everyone up!" I just gotta wait before I call that.#1: Brantley was terrible, and he will once again be terrible, becuase he is a QB that can't throw. Heisman hype? That was counting the chickens before they hatch.#2: Jarvis was a starting LB for USC as a freshman. USC is "Linebacker U" btw. Tree started for us as a true freshman at FREE SAFETY. That is insane. And he was fantastic. They have both proven themselves much more than mr brantly

The loss of AJ will hurt, but I think TK, MB, and MM will shore that gap just fine.I actually think with King, Brown, Mitchell, Bennett, Conely, crowell, figgins, Orson, ect... ect... we will actually be better wo AJ. Understand i know that sounds dumb, but we focused on him to much at times and threw to him when he was double covered. I think we lost the UF game in overtime trying to force it to him. With a QB like murry who is built to be a spread QB - him having many servicable options instead of one focus could make for a very dangerous passing game. Thats my 3cents. Nick Flair
Boise is going to be ready and they are going to give us a fight. The keys for us is to not turn over the ball, not give up the big play to boise, and finally FINISH THE DRILL! Finish a game out strong, thats where we lost games last year just like what Crowell said. I believe our boys are ready and they are ready to show the nation what they can do and what happened last year will not happen again. South FL Dawg
I honestly don't know what to expect from this team. I had high expectations in '08 and higher than where we ended up for '09 and '10. So this year I'm playing wait and see.FWIW I think we need to run the ball unlike in that embarrassment that was last year's bowl game. The Lady Sportswriter captured my thoughts exactly about that 4th and inches where we kicked a FG. Indeed a wise man once wrote that it doesn't matter whether you fall flat on your face or lean over too far backwards. My Dawg friends, it doesn't matter if it's the execution or the playcall....if THE TEAM can't advance the ball less than a yard against a smaller opponent that isn't allowed to move first, we're toast. But if we can then I feel pretty good about our chances.Under 5 days now....

And RS does run typically high but I'm sure that's something our coaches are working on and I would hope maybe they got some of that out of him. KGDawg710
I thought I saw somewhere that Herschel Walker would be delivering the game ball for UGA and Jared Zabransky would be delivering the game ball for Boise St. But now, Ryan Winterswyk is delivering Boise's game ball. I wonder what caused the switch.
