Finally
If you believe there is a full season ahead of us with great possibilities you are being realistic. Sure nothing is guaranteed but the first game hasn't even been played yet and anything can happen. If you believe that we have seen some flashes of great talent this preseason you are being realistic. Sure it is hard to say in some areas but there is no denying the speed of HD and JJ.If you believe that the things that have not looked so good can be corrected or mitigated you are being realistic. It is not like everything will stay just as it is. We have coaches for a reason. If you believe that some of the sloppiness stems from the lockout you are being realistic. Player-led practices didn't have 100 percent turnout. If you believe that teams with weaknesses can win a SB you are being realistic. Now if we can just rid this board of the homers. =abrahamburger=
I (we) literally don't know what they're doing and what their goals are in preseason, just like every preseason.I saw two practices this year at Flowery Branch. That's as close as I'll get to being more "in tune" with the team than a fan watching the game. There are security guards that have a better knowledge of Falcons gameplanning than me.The team got better with acquisitions this year, but there are some execution questions in the pre-season. Then again, I don't know what they're trying to do.I can't worry since I don't know what they're doing. Example: some people criticize gripe about Matt throwing it 42 times in the 1st half vs. Pitt. Some phrases that come to mind are "dink and dunk" or "no running game." If someone mentions that as a failure, wouldn't they have to know the gameplan for the Falcons in the first place?*shrugs*I'll be very realistic: I watch the team and cheer for them and follow the players. I don't have a clue as to what they are planning each week, I just hope they execute.
Twoism
Now if we can just rid this board of the homers.Perhaps if you are able to convince certain people that Anthrax will spew out from their computer screen if they make another post or thread. aerosmith67
Now if we can just rid this board of the homers. The problem with that is, I firmly believe anyone who takes time out of their day to seek out message boards based on specific topics are either Homers or Trolls/Haters. I have confidence in the players on this team, the coaches and the management simply because over the last 3 years they've done nothing but win and win consistently. Only 1 out of 32 teams can win the Super Bowl each year and I believe the Falcons are one of the 10 or so teams that can do that this year as were last year. FlyHighFalcons
I think we're going to be a great team that could make a title run. I think another SOLID addition to the secondary and this team is locked into contention.

I think it is smart. Why try and win when the goal is to get ready for the regular season? Sure we could have started pounding the ball and wearing them down a bit but they are only going to play for a half and we already know we can run. Durrtay
I think the fact that we threw the ball well bodes well for us. We know nobody runs effectively against the steelers so why not see how we can throw? I have high expectations for this team this year and am excited to see how it plays out

RazorTalon
I am truly excited for this upcoming season. WAY more excited than I was in the 90's, even more excited than I was in '98. This team has so much potential, lets let them gel, then sit back and enjoy the ride! I know I will.
deathonwings369
the 0-16 lions won all of their preseason games to go on to have the worst year in league history. yes there has been sloppiness in the first couple of preseason games but that is what preseason is for. To try different things give people different looks and allow players a chance to make mistakes so therefore when they do you can correct them and build upon the game film. The falcons have issues but it was edwards first game back and dunta was hurt. Is corner depth an issue? at this point yes but i still have faith that franks will get better. Darrin walls (sp?) has shown promise imo as well.

Tandy
I was so confused reading your post. I am a Homer. Proud to be supportive of my home team. Proud to stick by them in the thin years and in the thick years. Proud to expect them to do well each year. But, I agreed with everything in your post.I was having an identity crisis.THEN.....I saw this line:If you believe that only teams with no weaknesses can win a SB you are being realistic. And suddenly .... all is right with my world again. I am still a homer. I agree with everything you said but this. I'm saved - Whew! I believe all teams have a weakness of some sort, but those who can perform above their weakness(es) and use their strengths to compensate for those weaknesses, those who can rise above the flaws - are the teams that can win a SB. 4dabirds
Preseason means absolutely nothing. It does not matter if you win or lose, the games mean nothing. The games are nothing but for the coaches and players to evaluate their needs and concerns. I've not seen any complex play calling on defense or offense, and I'd guess it's because all of our talent has yet to be completely analyzed, or that the staff is more concerned with who they are keeping. While I'm sure the coaches want to win, I think that the coaches are using preseason for other thing as opposed to improving the teams standings in meaningless games. You can't make any conclusions on this teams performance until we get at least 1/4 of the way through the season, and even then things can turn either way.PRESEASON MEANS NOTHING! phattywankenobi
I saw a lot of positives out of the last game and obviously a couple of concerns. I'll wait until the regular season when teams fully prepare. I also believe the playbook is about to look a bit different starting Week 1 but you can't let out all of your secrets with so many games left after that. In that respect we won the game.
