Good GAWWWD! Reading these messageboard topics you would think we were the Panthers or Bengals

This is ridiculous - Falcons still have some weak points on defense - sure, no doubt about it. We are not the Steelers or Packers yet - but Falcons team will be better this year than last - fewer weaknesses than last year. Record may not reflect but Falcons will be better.

Some guy on this board just compared Ray Edwards to Edgerton Hartwell based on one pre-season game when Edwards was coming off knee surgery. Talk about a lack of perspective.

I know the regulars on this board are more balanced in there approach. I'm not so much a homer that I don't acknowledge weaknesses and I don't always sing "kum-ba-ya", etc.

But dayum....Falcons have a lot of talent on offense - maybe the most offensive talent in the NFL from top-to-bottom. Falcons defense is mediocre but has some talent - and if BVG can improve himself - i think Falcons will be just fine.

honestly, if you are that down on Falcons based on pre-season - then just watch soccer or something.

+1

its time we get a little more level headed on the state of our team. we will be just fine on offense...defense will get better as the season goes on.

the secondary will be just fine once Edwards gets back to form and we get pressure from both sides of the line. hes played all of 1 1/2 quarters this preseason!

some of yall are a bunch of pansies.

as stated above...we will be a better unit.

record wont show it but our playoff push will show it

I just think Falcons will be better this year - and more "watchable".....

should be fun - looking forward to it. If pass-rush gets better, the secondary will look better.

Dunta Robinson, Brent Grimes, William Moore and Thomas DeCoud are not awful - its just they are having to cover for too long given the anemic pass-rush last year. Be patient guys...

The Falcons are ALWAYS watchable to me. Heck, I have rewatched games countless times! Even the Joey Harrington days! But that's just me...

Sound post G-Dawg.

You gotta realize it's preseason for posters too.

Blind loyalists will be defensive. Wanna be trolls will be offensive. Realists will stay real.

I say as long as posters stay remotely close to the CoC we should let all groups post what they feel compelled to post.

It might be a good idea for all of us to quell the threads and posts about posters though and stick to Atlanta Falcon Football. Good, bad and indifferent.

Jeeze Laweeze G-Dawg. Talk about a Homer!

I thought we talked about this. Obviously anything positive said about the Falcons makes you a blind homer!

Seriously though, I think our team is primed to have a really good season.

You know you have a good team when our first team offense is driving at will against the STEELERS DEFENSE.

Not like our Defense is bad either, I am really liking our DT and LB play especially.

We have not even seen our FULL 1st team defense out there yet, D-Rob hasn't been in the game. He WILL improve our secondary, significantly.

Plus, I think Grimes was kinda messing around last game going for interceptions. It's preseason.

I know its pre-season for the posters as well FFS1970-good thought though.

I'm fine w/ people bringin' their thoughts and sometimes we all just need to "blow-off-steam" when Falcons have a bad game - myself included - but its just WAAAAY too soon to start hitting the panic button right now.

If Falcons stay healthy, I think we get into the post-season - maybe a wildcard, maybe the division - either way is fine w/ me. Heck, if 10-6 gets us in playoffs then so be it. I want a playoff win and I think this team can do it now - think they can win a playoff game on road.

If the defense can just be a little more stout against the pass and Julio makes the impact I think he can, if Harry Douglas is all the way back and Matt gets green-lighted to "cut-it-loose" - i know, a lot of "if's" - but I think this could be a special season.

SuperBowl? maybe.....

Playoff win? likely...

This season concerns me. First we have to dodge the injury bug. Then we have to deal with that schedule. Very 2009 like (minus the byes, which were overblown. We went 2-2 in those games and could have easily been 3-1). Then you got the Oline, which I still think is the weakest link. After that, the secondary is looking a little suspect. All of em look like they picked up where they left off against GB. This time against Henne, Garrard and Big Ben. Scary. The rookie punter/kicker is a little unnerving.

With that said, we could still be very good. At this point I have us at 10-6 to 11-5 and struggling to get in. I think the power has shifted from the AFC to the NFC. I fully expect at least 12 teams to be in the hunt deep into the season. I think even DET, STL, ARI and MIN will give plenty teams fits this year.

Pop your popcorn folks, this season will be memorable. It already is. Lockout. Watered down rules. Message boarders trying to water down the board. Preseason question marks. It will definitely be interesting. I'm ready.
