Atlanta vs Pittsburgh

I definitely agree with you on this.

Lol they were just awful. Extremely biased and couldn't even pronounce the Falcons names. What had me laughing was assuming that Polamalu was automatically going to Pick 6 his almost INT and that Timmons shouldn't have been caught from behind, no matter how fast HD is

He starts by announcing our team and he says ohhh what a player that Ovie Mooooohighley is.....Lol yah bud hes so good and you know all about him, especially how not to pronounce his name...anyhow the worst announcers ever.....He got caught and ran down, to boot he got ran down from behind which is even worse....where the **** else are you going to get run down from....lol thats the only option...ahahha

Anyhow first play I disliked was the Matt Ryan Interception which was happened basically because Sam Baker sucked and got absolutely torched on the outside and Ryan Had to get rid of it that second or get creamed.

Our defensive stand after that was something we should feel great about...Never could we stand up for four straight plays against a line like that on the one....So thats a positive

Sidenote: watching palomolu makes me jealous....what an asset to a team..that guy is everywhere and is a straight playmaker....i dream of the day we have a safety like that!

The next awful secondary play came with 14:38 in the 2nd and it was 3rd down and 20 and honest to go would have and should have been and 99 times out of 100 will be a 70 yd td. I couldnt tell because of the terrible camera angle who blew the coverage but it was def the wr Franks or Owens should have been on. Owens went in on a blitz so it may have been franks and if not it was the safetys man but either way on 3rd and 20 the D just let heinz ward go deep uncovered and without a falcon in frame and been overthrew him on an easy td. More unimpressive secondary play.

On the next drive, the 77 yard bomb, Decoud was terribly out of position and was the safety on the side of the field of the play, however you could tell he cheated over to the middle of the field, maybe he was worried about franks who was playing 10 yards off the line and then tried to get back in position when the pass went off to where he should have been and just straight got toasted...terrible coverage.....terrible adjustment to correct his position on the field and supplied absolutely no help to grimes and didnt even get a hand on the receiver....anytime the ball is tossed 30 yds or more downfield and theres a safety in zone providing help to a corner in man, there is absolutely no excuse for that safety not to be involved on the play.. Thats terrible and inexcusable and once again another explosive play given up by our secondary.....

Next I saw franks again get another completion on him to Heinz Ward, coverage was good but franks seems like hes now just focusing on being in the right area and cant focus on getting his hands in or getting around quick enough to ever make a play on the balls. I have to say this...I have watched 3 games so far from front to back and I have never once yet had an opportunity to say ohh nice play franks...and he really hasnt defensed a pass yet, or broken up a pass with a hit or contact or getting an arm in or anything...maybe the fact that it was heinz ward this time that he could actually keep up and was close enough to the play. lets just stick franks on the 30 plus and slower possession receivers to minimize damages each week. Considering that hes had so many balls thrown his way due to the fact that hes an easy target, you would think he would get a breakup once at least every couple games on accident...after all he is an nfl pro, for this year at least

next play a 44 yd bomb in which if you watch the play at 1:49 left in the 2nd antonio brown, aka Dominique Franks man catches a bomb...the reason for the confusion is this was actually franks man but grimes got better coverage by catching up to the pass so people made the mistake in accusing grimes for the coverage issues and diving for a pick rather than a breakup. Franks was so scorched on that play that he was once again out of frame and grimes almost picked up the slack...ive never seen such a terrible corner in the nfl ever...once again franks is scorched and brown is wide open by about 7 yds or 21 feet on franks for another easy td...so if ben doesnt miss ward earlier, in a half of play franks again gives up 2 tds, one for 44 and one for 60 yds....the kid is crap and is the reason we wont win in the playoffs.

I am shutting the game off, i know the score as it was played last night and once again saw everything i needed to and have claimed all along....Franks is trash, turners nothing special, and our offense is badass but not badass enough to clean up for owens and franks and Decouds coverage woes

...anyhow the worst announcers ever.....

I have to say that the team of Joe Thiesman, Bob Papa, and Matt Millen hold the title of worst announcers ever. Last year when we played Baltimore, and Matt Ryan connected on a pass to HD, Papa proclaimed "and Matt Bryant hits Harry Davis for a first down". Later, Thiesmann said something like "Atlanta his having trouble running against this Raiders defense".

Tony Kornheiser also gets an honorable mention when he was on the Monday Night crew. He is great on PTI but was unbearable in the booth.

(sorry for off topic)

If you are talking about the play where Ward was wide open with nobody around and Ben overthrew him by a couple of inches, then you have the a lot of things mixed up. I don't know who's man it was but Owens did not blitz on the play. BVG sent a 9 man rush (yes, 9!) and Franks was one of those guys. It was nobody's man as Grimes and Owens manned up on the outside WRs and Ward was in the "slot". But it was about as obvious as day that Owens was running in #84's hip pocket when they showed the replay when Ward and #84 crossed. I think Franks was initially called to blitz but should have gotten out of it. Sending a 9 man blitz is crazy if they have more than 2 WRs on the field.

either way it was overall terrible and i said i wasnt sure who blew a coverage.....so it was BVG terrible coverage then.....either way still terrible

I missed the Owens allowed score...Could you recount the scores or big plays against Owen that has him included in this group!

easily worst play of the game was the 44 yd brown td where franks got toasted ....grimes was blamed because thats how far of seperation he got on franks, grimes was actually closer

Actually it was actually DeCoud's fault. He bit on a short route and they were in a cover 3. The WR came from Franks' side but ran a deep post through DeCoud's zone.

The game is on right now. I will warn those who didn't see it, the announcers are awful.

Yeah they go with the home team coverage.

In preseason every team has a set of announcers that are assigned to them for every game and take a very positive view. For us it's Charles Davis and Vince Cellini.

But when they show the replay on NFL network they go with the home team announcers so the guys you're seeing are going to be biased towards the Steelers.

sorry didnt mean to hurt any feelings.....i always include owens in this category because he still isnt off the hook in my book from last year until he shows me otherwise....ill be the first to admit he has played really well as of late i need to see this continue through week three then hes off my hotseat

Franks is flat out terrible though

yeah and franks should have been with brown as he ran right through his zone and there was nobody else to cover him....franks actually followed him the whole way or tried but just got burnt so it was also a terrible choice by decoud but franks was the original one guarding him and was the one covering him the whole way..

it was 3rd and 20 thats sick that they converted that....... franks should have started 10 yds deep so he could keep his eye on the play instead he starts 2 yds off the line, gets scorched, has to turn his head away from the qb to run after brown who just seperates like crazy and thats its for that 3rd down.....thats it for everything...they scored uncontested

Because it was a cover three and that was the only man that threatened Franks' zone. The WR was running straight then broke for a post. Franks trailed since nobody else was in his deep 3rd, then noticed DeCoud was nowhere to be found and tried to save the play. If DeCoud is back there, Big Ben checks down.

What you're describing has more to do with scheme than it does with a bad play by Franks.
