Predict our 53-man Roster

Recommended Posts

Its that time.. We are through 3 pre-season games and less than a week away from the deadline to cut to 53 players.

A few notable moves in my projection; Chauncey Davis makes the team and Sidbury is cut, and Robert James is cut.

Too many Olineman and I only see us keeping 5 cbs Owens cut that will be the "big" move

He has 5 CBs and 4 Safeties which is what the team had last year

CB Williams gone replaced by Walls

S Coleman gone replaced by Bush

O-line last year they had just 9--- he gave up the #4 RB to add another O-lineman, I don't think they will do this.

Normally they keep only 6 LBs and he has 7 LBs, Here he gave up the #10 DL for an extra LB. I do not think they will do this. They may have only 9 DL but I do not think 7 LBs.

This is a good effort but I think we may get surprised in a couple of places.

Last year we kept 7 LBs.. I can see us placing Andrew Jackson on the practice squad and going with a 4th HB in Antone Smith. I didnt make the move because I think Jackson would be snatched up if we tried to send him to the PS.

We carried 4 running backs in 2009 and 2010, however we had Norwood on those teams. He was pretty much always injured.

I think the OP is close, but I only see 9 OL and one more LB. I also think that they would keep 5 DT's and 10 DL's due to the amount of injuries that can be expected at that position. I think Davis gets cut. Matthews makes the team and helps on special teams and passing downs along with Sidbury.

Who was the #7 LB if you think it was James, he was on the PS all season.

Peterson Adkins

Lofton Wire

Weatherspoon Nicholas

PS James -does not count against 53 man roster

ADDED James was suspended for a few games at the beginning of the year then moved to the PS

4RBs not counting Norwood, they added Johnson after Norwood went on IR

Turner, Snelling, G Johnson, A Smith all on 53 man roster.

Jackson's not making it over Valdez, despite how good jackson has looked in camps he's been beaten like a drum in every game... Valdez has not.

I could not disagree more. I really like what I have seen from Jackson. The one sack against Pitsburgh was between Bruggeman and Johnson and was more Bruggeman's fault IMO. The second man there came around LT Svitek. Jackson has logged more time at LG after Blalock than anyone telling me he has that spot locked up.

Valdez is in a position battle with Reynolds as long as Reynolds does NOT win the starting RG spot and thus needs to back up RT. Valdez has yet to beat him out of that spot in two years. Valdez has no chance at beating out Svitek as #2 LT and extra blocker on run plays. Svitek will be the swing tackle. Jackson has played LG as well as RT and held his own with very little time in the system. I think his ceiling is way higher. I also think they know what the rest of the league thinks of Jackson and are as sure as I am that we would see him snapped up if we foolishly attemted to hide him on the PS and the same goes for DE Cliff Matthews.

Even though the coaches say the battle is still open, my source is telling me Reynolds is basically the winner at this poitn excluding a dominant performance by Johnson, it's Reynolds job to lose, I'm not talking about giving up sacks, I had Jackson chalked down as giving up 4 pressures last night which is not good, where as I had Valdez giving up 2. If Reynolds and Blalock go down we're screwed at G with Jackson in there, at this point he plays way to high. No one is questioning that Svitek will be the swing tackle. Other teams outside of maybe Buffalo or Cincy can't justify taking him off PS waivers, (which we would fight)
