the_sheff
passing while on the move. It seems like whenever he has to move outside the pocket the ball always sails high and uncatchable. Its exactly what happened on the HD endzone pass and whenever we run that bootleg pass play it always ends up being an incomplete pass. Whenever i see Matt having to scramble i know the play will be a bust.
#1 pick
I think every QB including Brady and Manning have a lot to work on. So to say the only thing any QB needs to work on his an epic reach. You need to be working on all aspects of the game.

Nobodys that close to perfection.

Ryan showed in the Steelers game that he has pretty good mobility and it is sort of an underrated ability of his.
The Falcon Jedi Knight
I think this is accurate. Ive actually already posted this before. Ryan is not a good passer when he is rushed out of the pocket, or rolling out by design. He never has been.

When he has to move around he goes from being a great passer to looking dreadful. On game day look at what people post after we run that qb bootleg and it goes for an incompletion. You will have almost a full page or 2 of people saying we need to stop running that play because it never works. I think he has plenty of arm to get the job done. He just puts to much air under his deep balls. JMHO

Whenever i see Matt having to scramble i know the play will be a bust. That just means the game hasn't slowed us much as we think it should in his 4th year. I believe that's why we let Musgrave go so easily--he wasn't improving Matt's fundamentals (i.e., proper footwork, sliding up in the pocket, keeping your eyes downfield). A QB has to be willing to take the hits that he knows is coming after delivering the pass. Matt did look better in the pocket last night and didn't break it as early as he normally would. My brother was telling me that Matt played more fearless his rookie year than he plays now. It's just going to take Matt more time than we thought it would. We are missing a legitimate backup QB though--Redman is NOT the answer.
The Falcon Jedi Knight
Ryan is kind of like Curt Cobain (Nirvana). He could never play guitar while singing. Ryan cant throw while running.

His pocket presence when pressured does concern me especially if none of his weapons are immediately open. (I just wanted to point this old highlight out)I think next year's free agency pickup might be time to address the LT spot.

Atl/0
And yet MM loves to call that incredibly predictable rollout play whenever we need a couple more yards to kick a field goal at the end of a half.If you listened to the broadcast last night they were talking about how Ryan sits in with MM and Smith and he has a say into what plays he likes to run and what plays he doesn't like. If that's the case then those rollouts, outs, and stop patterns Ryan does 90 % of the time it seems to be what he likes to do.
sanfranfalcon
as another poster said...too much air on his deep throws. also his internal pocket clock has always bothered me. but he's got more reason to feel rushed this pre-season...Oline has been iffy at best. Ryan is not a good passer when he is rushed out of the pocket, or rolling out by design. He never has been.Really?! Wasn't the game-winning TD to White against BAL and the game-winner to Jenks against TB both on designed roll-outs??Didn't the famous sideline throw to Jenks against the Bears a few years back come when he was being flushed from the pocket??I have countless examples to prove just how bogus of a statement that was that you just made. And I'm sure you have plenty of incomplete passes that you can think of. But you're being real bogus with that.

He has a say in what they run so you can't put all the blame on the OC.
